"Born February 7, 1928 at Baisden, he was the son of the late Johnson New (1900-1979)and Lena Patrick-New (1902-1982). In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife: Nada Kirk-New (1929-1994); his children: Bobby New (Deceased), Sherman New (Deceased), Steve New (Deceased), Gene New (Deceased) and Baby Boy New (Deceased); grandchildren: Jerry New (Deceased), Rodney Johnson (Deceased) and Sherry Lynn New (Deceased): brothers: Charles "Peanut" New (1929-1981) and Landola New (Deceased); sister: Marie New-McCoy (Deceased).

"Hersel was a retired coal miner from Blue Bird Coal Company. He was a member of the U.M.W.A.

"Richard "Tadpole" Franklin, age 82, passed away July 10, 2024 at his home in Premier, West Virginia. Born on August 22, 1941 in Avondale, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Marshall Franklin and Wilda Mae Kirk Franklin. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

"Richard was a lifelong resident of McDowell County. His life was marked by his love of the great outdoors. He was an avid coon hunter and found enjoyment in the friendly competition of card games and gambling. He was a generous man and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

"In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Rose) Franklin; son, Corey Franklin; his brothers Bob, John, Billy, and Walt Franklin, and sisters Eula Addair and Mary Franklin.

"Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Raymond Franklin and wife Rinky of Bluefield, WV; his sisters Josephine Alley of Premier, WV, Marie Frost of Ritter, WV, Mattie Reed and husband Tommy of Princeton, WV, and Rachel Kennedy of Welch, WV; and his cherished grandchildren, Gabe and Hunter Franklin. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
