"Zacc Sesler Whitlock Sr., 86, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999.
A long-time Newport News businessman, he owned and operated Whit Sales Company until his retirement. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Denbigh Baptist Church.
He was the devoted husband of the late Madge A. Whitlock; beloved father of Zacc S. Whitlock Jr. of Newport News, Sally W. Hopkins of Newport News, and Pat Whitlock-Dooz of Baltimore, Md.; and cherished brother of Doug A. Whitlock, Lucille Williams, Ruth Mabe and Rachael Hayes, all of Newport News.
His adored grandchildren are Kelli L. Hopkins, J. Michael Whitlock, Jeremy M. Dooz and the late Mark E. Hopkins. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Aaron O'Neil. Members of S.P.U.D.S. and the Joy Circle of Denbigh Baptist Church kindly remembered him during his long illness.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Darrell was affiliated with the Church of God Faith, he was employed with the Deskins Super Market in Welch, W.V. for several years as Assistant Manager, he was last employed as Assistant Manager for Maybeury Food Mart, Maybeury, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Darlene Arrington Torres in 1995, three brothers Clarence Allen Torres, Steven Dewayne Torres, and Michael Dale Torres. He was a laborer for a trailer factory for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 0807, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2563 and the Military Order of the Cootie. He was also a member of Grand Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles; Disabled American Veterans of California No. 6; Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle in Linda; and Full Gospel Shield of Faith and First Assembly of God, both in Olivehurst.
