"Erma Jean Trent, 88, of Oceana, WV passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at Princeton Community
Hospital. She was born January 12, 1930 in Harlan County, KY a daughter of the late Issac Newton and
Rosie Gertrude Ball Collins. Erma was a retired cook for the Wyoming County Board of Education, having
cooked at Baileysville High and Elementary, Long Branch, Huff Consolidated, Berlin McKinney and Road
Branch Schools. After retirement she worked for Hardees in Oceana making Biscuits. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Edwin Trent; a daughter Brenda Carol Trent; two
sons James Elliott Trent and Jesse Lynn Trent; and three sisters Janorah Bowens, Ethan Marie Sparks and
Mennie Mayes; and two brothers Emmitt Collins and Warren G. Harding Collins, Erma was the last
surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include her loving son Elmo Johnson and wife Connie
of Daniels; three grandchildren Scotty E. Johnson and wife Alicia, Richard Elliott Johnson and wife Jessica
and Travis Trent; six great grandchildren Derek Johnson, Kynli Johnson, Evan R. Johnson, Nicholas
Johnson, Brittany Trent and J.R. Trent; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will
be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday June 23rd in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with
Rev. Algie Cook officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may
gather with the family from 5 - 8:00 PM on Friday June 22nd at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be
family and friends. Special thanks to Shirley Cline and the late Delbert "Red" Cline who were her angels
sent to help and watch over Erma and a special part of the family Laura Sebastian for taking care of our
