"Went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 6, 2022. She was a patient at Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon, VA. Born December 13, 1943 at Raysal, WV she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Dora Short Cook. She was a retired employee of the Counsel of Southern Mountains. Geraldine was a member of #2 Yukon Community Church and had been a member since the church was built. She has served as a Sunday School teacher and was active in Bible Studies. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed outdoor events, camping gardening, and playing with her dog, Zury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Day; brothers, Raymond and Tommy Cook; one great grandson, Thias Crookshanks.
Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Durenda Lowery and husband, Nathan (whom she loved as a son) of War, WV and Marsha Day of the home; one son, Arnold Day and daughter in law, Susan Lampkin both of Lebanon, VA; one grandson, Nathanial Lowery and wife, Keri of War, WV; three granddaughters, Chancley Crookshanks and husband, Tristan of Lester, WV, Rylan Day of Lebanon, VA, and Leanne Martin and husband, Matt of Coalwood, WV; four great granddaughters, and five great grandsons; two brothers, Earl Cook and wife, Lois of Wytheville, VA and Hobert Cook of Squire, WV."The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday January 11, 2022 at #2 Yukon Community Church at Yukon, WV where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 PM with Pastor Charles Rose officiating. Burial will follow at the Day-Lambert Family Cemetery at Pea Patch, VA.
