"Ethel Stewart Profitt, 83, of Statesville, NC formerly of Matheny, WV went home to be with our Lord May
30, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born May 26, 1936 in Jesse, WV, she was the eldest daughter of the late
Ira Paris Stewart and Mable Walker Stewart. Ethel was a member of the Gospel Life Quartet for 10+ years,
she enjoyed her travels with the Quartet and loved each member of the group. These were the best years of
her life. She was an associate member of the UMWA, elected Homemaker of the year by the Matheny
Homemakers Club, past member of the Rebeckah Lodge, a member of the Matheny United Methodist
Church, and the WSCS of the church. She loved decorating her house and making ceramics. Her biggest
desire in life was to help people in various ways. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by
her husband Claude L. Profitt; brothers Truman Walker and David Ray Stewart; sisters Naomi Stewart
Dishmon and Bonnie Stewart Patrick. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Eva Kiser and
husband Kermit; granddaughter Amy Toler and husband Kevin all of Statesville, NC; great granddaughter
Megan Toler of Greensboro, NC; brother Leonard Stewart and wife Theresa of Oceana; sister Annis Cook
and husband Glen of Matheny; precious snoodle dog Bo that stayed by her side; and a host of other loving
family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Monday June 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Stafford
Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Ronnie Acord officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm
Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1PM until time of
services on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Special thanks to Trinity
United Methodist Church of Statesville, NC, Hospice of Iredell County, NC, Grace Caregivers of Newton, NC,
JoAnne Hicks of Claremont, NC and Rev. Mike and Debbie Duncan of Hiddenite, NC. The family is being
served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV."
