"Enos John "Johnie" Evans, Jr., 74, of Kopperston, WV, passed away peacefully at his favorite place
Sherwood Lake, WV on Tuesday August 27, 2019. He was born on May 9, 1945 in Glen Rogers, WV a son of
the late Enos John and Hazel Lamb Evans. Johnie is a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, a member of
the UMWA and former coal miner at Kopperston #2 and Harris #2. In addition to his parents he is
preceded in death by a brother Harold Evans; a sister Bernice Redden Whittaker; and a half sister Priscilla
James. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 56 years Jean Brown Evans; two sons Mike (Fran) Evans
of Maple Fork Road and his children Catelyn (Bret Clay) Evans of Midway and Erica Evans all of Holly Hills;
Brian (Vicki) Evans of Kopperston and their children Nathaniel (Brianna) Evans and Matthew Evans all of
Bluefield; a brother David Evans of Glen Rogers; a sister Mabel Bailey of Hernshaw; and a host of other
loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 5PM on Saturday August 31st in the Chapel of
Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Lucian Brown and Bro. Nathaniel Evans officiating.
Friends may gather with the family from 6-9PM on Friday August 30th at the funeral home. Honorary
pallbearers will be his grandchildren. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
