Sylton Carl Hurdle

1. Gregory-Page Funeral Home; Northfork, WV; Posted Obit.
"Sylton Carl Hurdle-a man of faith, renowned clinical education instructor, respiratory care practitioner, mentor, and a friend to all, died at his home in Pelham, Alabama, on December 02, 2021, surrounded by family. He was 68. Born July 31, 1953, in Los Angeles, California to John Alexander Hurdle and Sophia Beatrice (Jackson) Hurdle., he attended Nogales High School in West Covina, California. He continued his education and graduated from Mt. San Antonia in Walnut, CA with an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Shortly afterward he became a Registered Respiratory Therapist Practitioner. He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

"Sylton was preceded in death by his oldest brother, John A. Hurdle Jr. of Los Angeles, California, and his second oldest brother James Hurdle of Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rayna Lynette Hurdle of Pelham, Alabama, his three sons Sean Brandon Hurdle (wife, Carmen Barnes) of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Briton Lee Hurdle (wife, Kristin Hurdle and children, Isaac Hurdle-Ramirez, Elenna Hurdle, and Elena Christiansen) of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Evan Cloyd Hurdle of West Covina, California, and his siblings, Billy Hurdle (wife, Valeria Hurdle) of Carson, California, Marsha Hurdle-Whittingham of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Donald Hurdle of Yorba Linda, California, and Sylton's twin sister Sylvia Hurdle of Carson, California. Also, he had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

"Sylton and Rayna were celebrating their recent move to Pelham and Sylton's retirement from over 40 years of commitment to the Respiratory Therapy profession. Sylton was a pillar in the community and was a man of unrelenting faith. When Sylton was not doing home repairs, working, hiking, working out, or watching movies with his family you could always find him in his home Church, Calvary Baptist in La Puente, California. As a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and mentor you could find Sylton at almost every Church function; even some of the ones that were in Spanish! Sylton's faith in God, kindness, honesty, sense of humor, and willingness to provide guidance changed the lives of many and he will be greatly missed.

"Due to COVID a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Information provided courtesy of Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.

"Colossians 3:23-24 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ."
