"JENKINJONES – Gladys A. Presley McCroskey, 85 of Jenkinjones, died Friday May 21, 1999 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield.
Born September 15, 1913 in Skygusty, she was a daughter of the late John Presley and Maggie Freeman Presley. She had been a lifelong resident of Jenkinjones and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brady McCroskey; one son, William ‘Bill' McCroskey; one daughter, Ruby Geraldine McCroskey; six brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Detarville and husband, Bob of Tacoma, Wa.; five sons, Harvey McCroskey and wife Ruby of Rocky Gap, Va., Herbert McCroskey and wife Betty of Jenkinjones, Paul McCroskey and wife Mary of Flat Rock, Mi., Luther McCroskey and wife Donna of Lenoir, N.C., and Bobby McCroskey and wife Melitta of Archdale, N.C.; one brother Elmer Presley of Gettysburg, Pa.; one daughter-in-law, Marie McCroskey of Jenkinjones; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel, Bluewell, with the Rev. Donnie Farmer officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Bluewell.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

She loved being a mother; her son was her pride and joy. Amanda enjoyed riding four wheelers, spending time with her family and friends, singing, dancing, and talking to everyone she met; she was loved by everyone.
"In addition to father, Michael Cline, Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Junior and Doris Cline and maternal grandparents Ovil and Billie Deskins.
