"Word was received here yesterday of the death last Saturday of Arthur Slye, son of Mr and Mrs Gideon Slye of State Lot. Mr Slye has been a resident of Arkansas for some years and the details of his last illness have not as yet been learned. The remains are expected to arrive today from the west. They will be taken to the home of the deceased's parents and the funeral will be held Thursday at the Methodist Episcopal church at Spartansburg. The interment will be made at Spartansburg. Mr Slye is survived by his parents, his wife and eight children."

Deceased died of fever, after two months' illness. He was married and leaves eight children, besides a widow and his parents, Mr and Mrs Gideon Slye. Rev Anthony Groves conducted the services and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery."
