"Gladys Eve Clark Harmon, 82, of Honey Lane, Princeton, departed this life on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at her residence with her loving and caring family by her side. Born May 7, 1925, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred & Helen Virginia Sims Myers.
While living in McDowell County, Gladys graduated from Gary High School. After moving to the Princeton area, she was employed by Rockwell International and later retired from the Mercer County Board of Education by serving as a Cook for the Glenwood Schools. She was an active member of the Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, Glenwood Park, also, was a founding member of the Willing Workers Circle and a member of the United Methodist Women's group. Gladys loved the outdoors, especially camping & fishing, and was an avid collector of Dolls. But more importantly, she loved her Lord, her family and adorned her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Sam Clark, a son, Jimmy Clark and all her brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memories, Her husband Dowell Harmon of Lashmeet; Three Children and their spouses, Rita & Gary Mercer of Scott Depot Sharon & Lane Bailey of Fairfax Station, VA Ronald & Tammy Clark of Abingdon, VA; Seven grandchildren Andrew & Matthew Bailey Heath & Brittany Mercer Junior Clark Derek Smith Daffaney Tibbs Great Grandchildren Taylor, Payton & Sam; Step Children & their spouses William "Duke" & Deanna Harmon of Kegley Chris & Trish Harmon of Princeton Pat & Wayne Jenkins of Lashmeet; 8 Step Grandchildren, 16 Step Great Grandchildren.
On Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., we will celebrate the life of Gladys Clark Harmon, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Nancy Cale officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum, on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
