"Julia Kay Blankenship, 50, of Indian Creek, WV entered into eternal life at Raleigh General Hospital after a long illness, with her family by her bedside on January 10th, 2022."Julia, who by most was lovingly adorned as "Julie K", or "Ju-K", was born in Welch, at Welch Community Hospital on October 3rd, 1971 to Theodore David Williams and Minnie Magdalene Morgan Moody.
"Julia was recognized for her kind and giving personality. She had a very big heart that she often wore on her sleeve. She had a contagious laugh that most teased her for, calling her "Wheezer". She spent the largest portion of her life taking care of others, something that she loved to do and was very passionate about. She was a nursing assistant in her early years, later becoming a homemaker and being a mother to her two daughters, and working briefly for the DMV-Beckley. Julia also took care of her own mother at their home until Minnie's passing in 2019.
"Julia was to no surprise avid in the outdoors. She loved to go fishing; her favorite to fish for was large mouth bass. She enjoyed spending time outside whether she would be sitting on her front porch swing, gardening, swimming and lounging by the pool with her sister Jackie, or sitting around the fire with her companion of 10 years, Don Rocchi and long time friend Rebecca Morgan.
She loved to go four-wheeling with her family, exploring different trails and of course, getting a little mud on the tires. She liked to have fun, she loved rock and roll music, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Julia lived a full life, mostly spent surrounded by laughter and love."Her greatest accomplishment if you asked her, were her two daughters that she loved deeply and unconditionally, and was very proud of. She never missed a chance to talk about how proud she was of her "baby girls", Brianna and Marissa.
"Julia's heart knew the Lord and she previously attended the Brenton Church of God, and was known to highlight her favorite passages in her Bible that touched her heart most. She was saved July 3rd, 1996.
"She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Moody, sister Nancy Miller, and nephew Jamie Atwell.
"Left to cherish her memory are her companion, Don Rocchi of Pineville, WV; father and stepmother, David & Edith Williams of Itmann, WV; daughter Brianna Poff & wife Marissalee Poff of Oak Hill, WV; daughter Marissa Blankenship of Beckley, WV; sister Patsy Bishop & husband Alvin Bishop of Grandview, WV; sister Jacqueline Blankenship & husband Terry Blankenship, of Indian Creek, WV; brother Leland Moody of Indian Creek, WV; brother Glen Williams & wife Danna Williams of Indian Creek, WV; step-sister Elaine Moody & husband Stanley Bailey of Indian Creek, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
"Julia's wishes indicated she be cremated, and for some of her ashes be spread over her mother's grave. Her memorial service will be held at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service of Pineville on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at 12p-1p, lead by Brother Lee Fischer of the Brenton Church of God, with reading from one of her favorites passages in the Bible, Ephesians 2:8-10.
"In gesture of condolences, flower arrangements may be sent to Evans-Calfee Funeral Service.
"The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to the SICU nursing staff and doctors of Raleigh General Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and phenomenal care of Julia during her time of illness.
"John 3:16- For God so loved the world he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
