"Jeffery Lee “Clete” Boyer, 59, of Hemphill went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 5, 2021 at with his family by his side. Clete was born December 29, 1961 in Welch, WV, he was the son of Libby Boyer of Elbert and the late Lonnie Boyer.

"He was a retired coal miner of 21 years for Pinnacle Coal Company also know as Cliffs. He attended the Hemphill Holiness Church.

"Clete was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend to all he met. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports, and relaxing on the porch. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

"In addition to his father; he was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Joann Boyer of the home; one son David and Shawnta Boyer of Bluefield; two grandchildren, Jace and Serenity Boyer of Bluefield; two brothers, Jimmy Boyer of Hurricane and Tommy Boyer of Elbert.

"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 12, 2021 at 12 Noon from the Hemphill Helping Hands Holiness Church in Hemphill with Pastor Sam Prevento and Pastor J. B. Robinette, officiating.

"Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.

"Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.

"Pallbearers will be Joe Joe and Bubby Mullins, Brandon Disney, Chase Watkins, Samuel Prevento, Bebo Hale and J. B. Robinette.

"Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, masks are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.

Salem, VA, formerly of Big Four,
WV, passed away Saturday, May 23,
2020, at Roanoke Carilion Hospital
following a short illness.
"Sandy was born on August 26,
1942, to the late Eltrue and Laura
(Scarberry) Gordon of Big Four,
WV. She was a member of the
“Dirty Dozen” of Big Four Hill and
the “Gordon Girls”.
"Sandy was preceded in death by
her parents, her brothers, Richard
(Dickie), Jerry & Eddie Gordon, her
sisters, Patricia (Gay) Lynch, Au-
drey Goins, Bonita, & Jewel Gor—
don.
"Born with a fire in her soul and her
fists ready, Sandy was a true fighter.
She fought for causes and those she
loved. She defended those she loved
fiercely.
"Sandy was an overcomer. She
overcame an accident which broke
both her legs, an aneurysm, and
brain surgery.
"Sandy was a free spirit and en»
joyed traveling. When she took a
notion to see a new place or visit a
friend or family, nothing stood in her
way.. Her travels took her to many
different destinations and blessed
those whom she visited,
"Sandy enjoyed attending church
and singing. Sandy was always
ready to testify for the Lord and sing
praises to His name.
"While We will greatly miss San—
dy and her readiness for adventure
and her wonderful singing, she had
a “standing invitation to a Hallelujah
spell”. We know, without a doubt,
she is standing on the other side,
with the saints of old, singing and
shouting “Hallelujah” to her King
& Savior! Sandy has been reunited
with her loved ones gone before.
"Sandy is survived by her brother,
Rodney (Tubby) Gordon, her sis-
ters, Sylvia Hall, Caroline Mitchem,
& Venetia Brand, her sons, Warren
Jr, Wayne, Williard, & their fami-
lies, and a host of nephews, nieces

"Calvin Blankenship, Jr., 91, of Clintonville, WV formerly of Kopperston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2021at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Lewisburg, WV. He was born on December 3, 1929 in Cyclone, WV a son of the late Calvin Blankenship, Sr. and Bertie Emily Daniels Blankenship. Calvin attended Family Praise and Worship Center and James Chapel United Methodist Church. He is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, a 1949 graduate of Oceana High School, a coal miner, expert horseshoe pitcher, and a member of the Lions Club. He loved all types of sports, coached ball teams, and always supported local athletes. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and he taught children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends these skills. He was always willing to try anything new. He loved to travel with his wife and family, and always knew which way to go. He had an incredible sense of direction, he could drive anything anywhere. He took a car where most people couldn’t take a Hummer. He was respected and loved by everyone that knew him and was honest to a fault. He was a hard worker and able to fix anything mechanical, he didn’t expect anything from anyone working with him that he was not willing to do himself, but when the work was done he knew how to have a good time. He also enjoyed spoiling his dogs and cats.

"In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Lula and Ashby Brown, Brookie Ann and George Toler, Jr., Ida Jone and Garner Brown, Gladys Marie Brown, Freeda June and Joseph Cook, Sadie and Callie Smith brothers, Joseph Lee and Inez Blankenship, William Riley and Sue Blankenship, Freeman Blankenship, and Arnold Dewey and Violet Blankenship.

"Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 29th in the Chapel of Stafford Family of Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Timmy Brewster, Rev. Rick Brown, and Pastor Jesse Pope officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Donations of sympathy may be made to the churches.
