Robinson, Vienna, WV; sisters (Lillian and Geneva) and brothers (Douglas and Jack).

"Bettie was born on May 16, 1929 in Welch, WV to a mother from one of the early pioneer families in the area and an Italian emigrant. She lived on the farm learning the techniques of farming and animal husbandry during the Great Depression. When she was a teenager, her family bought a dairy farm in New York and she moved there with them. Returning to Welch, she graduated from Welch High School and worked as a clerical aid and secretary. After marrying she moved to Pulaski, Virginia with her husband and daughter. There she worked in the Tax Office of the Pulaski County Court House. After returning to Welch, she married Bill Robinson and worked at the Foremost Milk Company until its headquarters moved to Bristol, TN. She then worked in administration at the McDowell County Jail. After retiring she relocated to Vienna, WV to be near her daughter and granddaughter. She was a long-serving volunteer at St Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, WV and was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Parkersburg, WV. She frequently attended United Methodist Churches in the Oak Island/Southport area.

"She was proud of her native state, studying its history and its people. She subscribed to several publications about the state: Goldenseal, the magazine of West Virginia traditional life, Wonderful West Virginia Magazine, and The official West Virginia Page for OnlyInYourState.
Bettie was very fond of art glass especially art glass made in West Virginia. She collected several pieces and enjoyed learning and sharing the history of the glass factories in West Virginia. Bettie enjoyed photography and was an avid photographer, documenting the many changes in rural settings of the areas she visited.

"She was a very special and loving person who ensured that those she met were special too. She will be greatly missed but the love that she brought to all will live on.

"Proverbs 31:31

""Honor her for all that her hands have done…”

"After a long and fulfilling life, Virgie Ellen Stinson, of Avondale, WV, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family just two days after celebrating her 82nd Birthday.

"Virgie was born on January 2, 1943 in Avondale, WV, a daughter of the late Ed and Gladys Berry Waldron. Virgie dedicated the entirety of her life in service and love to her family, friends, and all those whom she cared greatly for. Virgie spent most of her life as a homemaker - with her most coveted and influential titles being wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Virgie enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and making her home welcome and warm to all those who entered. Although, Virgie remained the sweet little “granny” everyone came to know and love - she was a spitfire with no problem telling you how she felt. Her honesty and truth-telling was as fierce as her love and nurturing abilities. She kept her family on their toes and thoroughly enjoyed making them walk the line. She was the type of Granny who would travel across the US at the drop of a hat, get on a roller coaster, cut her own grass, out-shop you, and even bun-jee jumped back in 03. She was an independent and respected woman in her community of friends and family, but a safe place of refuge, warmth, and love for anyone that may need it. There will likely never be another like her. Although, she has traded her earthly body for a new one - free of pain and suffering - the void and grief she leaves behind is tremendous. Her family will miss her, always.

"In addition to her parents Virgie, was preceded in death by her husband RC Stinson; sister Ella Jane Waldron; a brother, Billy Joe and wife Phyllis Waldron; a nephew, Chase Graham; and her in laws, Wannis and Lucinda Stinson.

"Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her children, Pamela Bishop and husband Dewayne, and Wilma Roberts and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Brandon Bishop and wife Nicole, Tiffany Bryant and husband Shay, Derek Roberts and wife Wendy and Dustin Bishop and wife Alyssa; great grandchildren, Connor, Austin, Creed, Codie, and Cole Bishop, Kiersten and Jase Roberts, Easton and Sawyer Bryant; nephews, Billy Ray Waldron and wife Pam, Rodney Waldron and wife Jennifer, Dedria Graham and husband Bub; Jeffrey LaBarre and wife Rita; brother-in-law, Leslie Stinson and wife Donna; sister-in-law, Linda Stanley; special nieces, Selena Blevins and husband Randal, Renae Cooper and the late Anthony Cooper; great nieces, Paige Newberry and husband Robby, and Abigail and Bethany Blevins.

"Friends may visit with the family at the Independent Church of God at Avondale Saturday, January 11, 2025 after 6 p.m.

"Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 12, 2025 at1 o’clock with Reverend Danny Bowles and Reverend John Blankenship officiating at the Independent Church of God at Avondale. Burial will follow in the Mullins Cemetery on Crane Ridge near Avondale. Serving as pallbearers will be her children, grandchildren, addition family members and friends.
