"Buddy was a U.S. Army Veteran, member and Deacon of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M., United Transportation Union, and the American Legion. Buddy was also a former employee on the Norfolk and Southern Railroad serving as an Engineer for 37 years. In his leisure he enjoyed camping along with his wife, Barbara at Myrtle Beach and Florida and playing golf.
"In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Phillips.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Mullens of Mullens; two daughters, Jennifer Lashley and her husband, Mark of Jensen Beach, FL and Staci Phillips and her husband, Kevin of Herndon; four grandchildren, Casey and Jessica Phillips, Zachary and Britney Phillips and Jace and Kailynn Lashley; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, David Mullens and his wife, Pat of Concord, NC and Leslie Mullens and his wife, Nila of Charmco.
