"Mary Ruth Bishop Shrewsbury Johnson went home to be with the lord Tuesday October 12,2021. She was born August 26,1933 in Shop Hollow, Alpoca WV. She was the daughter of Floyd Bishop and Lillie Mae Mills. Mary was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid member of the Madeline Freewill Baptist Church in Amigo. Mary loved attending church where she played bass guitar and many other instruments. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children Carmie Alvis Shrewsbury and second husband Bernard Lee Johnson. A son Donald Lee Shrewsbury and daughter Kathy Ann Shrewsbury. Grandson’s Harold Jr. and Todd Shrewsbury and granddaughter Amanda Belcher, great grandson Dakota Bailey. Four brothers Jim, Paul, Willie, & Roy Bishop. Three sisters Ellie Mae Oneal, ALice and Zadie Shrewsbury. And a son in law Charlie Lee Hall. Left to cherish her memory are four sons Ernest Shrewsbury (Alina), Lewis Shrewsbury (Linda), Harold Shrewsbury (Belinda), & Denny Shrewsbury (Lynn). Five daughters Betty Tisdale, Patty Barnes, Kim Hall (Charlie), Teresa Hall, and Carol Johnson (Harvey). One sister Dolly Lusk and 27 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. And a very special caretaker Tammy Hayzlett. Paul Bears are Caleb Bower, Lee Sargent, Darrell Shrewsbury, Aaron Tisdale, Mark Barnes, & Paul Barnes Jr. Brother Charlie Bowling and Brother Tony Hinkle will be officiating the services."

"Byron Ray "Buddy" Mullens, 80, of Mullens, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley surrounded by his family."Born March 12, 1939, at Pineville, he was the son of the late Stacy and Malone (Cox) Mullens.
"Buddy was a U.S. Army Veteran, member and Deacon of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M., United Transportation Union, and the American Legion. Buddy was also a former employee on the Norfolk and Southern Railroad serving as an Engineer for 37 years. In his leisure he enjoyed camping along with his wife, Barbara at Myrtle Beach and Florida and playing golf.
"In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Phillips.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Mullens of Mullens; two daughters, Jennifer Lashley and her husband, Mark of Jensen Beach, FL and Staci Phillips and her husband, Kevin of Herndon; four grandchildren, Casey and Jessica Phillips, Zachary and Britney Phillips and Jace and Kailynn Lashley; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, David Mullens and his wife, Pat of Concord, NC and Leslie Mullens and his wife, Nila of Charmco.
