"William Woodrow “Bill” Bailey, 81, of Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park in Princeton died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1988, in Princeton Community Hospital."Born March 31, 1917, in Crumpler, he was the son of the late W.W. and Mary Jane Sells Bailey. He was a retired miner for the Hawley Coal Mining Corp. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of District 29 United Mine Workers Association. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3112 in Bramwell. He was a member of the Green Valley Bowling Center bowling league in Bluefield. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church and Ashworth Regular Baptist Church in Princeton. He had been a resident of Princeton since 1975 moving from Bramwell.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Bailey; one infant daughter; and one sister, Mae Gregory.
"Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Jones Bailey of Princeton; one son, Wayne Bailey Sr. and wife, Gwen, of Montcalm; two grandchildren, Wayne Bailey Jr. and wife, Stephanie, and Farrah Sizemore and husband, Stacy, all of Montcalm; two sisters, Pearl Elledge of Hays, N.C., and Ruth Murray and husband, George, of Bluefield; one half-brother, Dwight Bailey of Princeton; and two half-sisters, Bonnie Bailey and husband, Larry, of Gilliam and Lucy Bowman of Falls Mills, Va.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Revs. Larry Bailey and Lyle Mullins officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Sandy River District American Legion Post No. 175 of Bradshaw and the Mercer County Veterans Council. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home of Princeton from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8."

"Douglas Fairbanks Auvil (Doug) went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017 surrounded by all his family. He was best known for his honesty and his love for his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Godly Christian who led all his children to the Lord."Doug was born in Iaeger, West Virginia in 1934 and had four brothers and three sisters. He married the love of his life, Marina Ledford, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the USAF for 20 years then NASA as an engineer for another 20 years. While at NASA he worked on the Hubble Space Telescope and many other space projects. Doug was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia for 37 years, serving in many roles, including Deacon.
"Preceding him in rest is his wife, Marina F. Auvil; parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Auville; and brothers, Bob Auville and Richard Auville. Doug is survived by 5 children, Debbie Turner and husband Charles, James D. Auvil and wife Sheila, Sherry Vincent and husband Eddie, Vickie McGranaghan and husband Lee, and Jackie Burton; 12 grandchildren, Calvin C. Upton V, Matthew J. Upton, Jimmy Auvil, Jacob Auvil, Jonathan Auvil, Amber Auvil, Krystal Vincent, Joshua McGranaghan, Ashley Westmoreland, Steven Burton, Stephanie Burton, and Brookelyn Burton; and 8 great-grandchildren, Landon D.
