"Mrs. Catherine E. Webb Parsons Hill age 89, who resided at 203 Slate Drive in Gary, WV, where she peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 9, 2022 surrounded by her daughter and family. She was born in Pulaski, VA on the 27th day of January in 1933 and the daughter of Isaac Webb Sr., and Bertha Carter Webb. For many years, she resided in Jenkinjones, WV, was a homemaker and a long time member until the closing of Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a faithful member and served until failing health as Mother of Mt. Bethel United Holy Church in Anawalt, WV. Mrs. Catherine who was affectionately known in the Community as “Granny Cat,” loved the Lord and her Family. She took great pride in being a good cook and a homemaker. Her pastimes were spent listening to Gospel music, shopping and keeping in touch by telephone with friends and family. When her health allowed, she looked forward to attending activities at the Welch McDowell Commission on Aging Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Parsons and second husband, Robert Hill. Also, eight of her siblings: Alfonso, Carl, Isaac Jr., Mildred, Neola, Richard, Robert and Thomas; her son-in-law, Lafayette Fantroy and two daughters-in-law, Debra and Vivian Parsons. Catherine Elizabeth Webb Parsons Hill will be greatly missed by her six children: Christine Fantroy of Evergreen, AL, Freda M. Parsons, her caregiver and with whom she made her home; Robert J. Parsons of Aliceville, AL, Jack Parsons of Bowling Green, VA, Kenneth Parsons of Salisbury, NC and Richard Parsons of Troutman, NC; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; one uncle, Elder Golden Carter of Martinsville, VA; three sisters: Dency Webb, Martha Overson, Lydia Wade and her brother, Aaron Webb all of Pulaski; two stepdaughters, Joyce Hill and Laura Ross and stepson, William Hill and a host of nephews, nieces; her Church family, special friends and neighbors. Mrs. Hill’s Homegoing Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Mt. Bethel United Holy Church 314 Bernice Avenue in Anawalt, WV with her Pastor, Bishop Virginia Rucker officiating, assisted by the Elders: Lafreeda Calloway, Janice Powell and Dorris Revels. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens 450 Courthouse Road in Princeton, WV. Her Grandsons and Granddaughters will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers.
