"Michael Peyton King, of Mullens passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020."Born August 17, 1968 in Beckley, he was the son of Luther Peyton King, Jr. and Evelyn Kay King.
"He was a 1988 graduate of Mullens High School, where he was a WV State Champion wrestler his junior and senior years. Mike attended West Virginia University and Concord College where he earned his Board of Regents degree. Mike was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mullens.
"Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Luther and Verna King and his maternal grandparents, Andy and Edna Wallen.
"Those left to cherish his memory include his parents and his children, Hillary King and her husband, Caleb Redington of Salt Lake City, UT, Michael King, II, Makayla King of Mullens, and Priscilla Raines of Beckley.
"Memorial service will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Pastor Tracy French officiating.

"BEARTOWN Charles Adam (Billy) Roberts, 58, of Beartown, W.Va., went to Heaven February 14, 2010 at his home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Billy was born July 25, 1951 at Panther, W.Va., a son of the late Halsey Sr. and Marie Crouse Roberts. He was a resident of Beartown, a disabled coal miner, and was of the Pentecostal faith. He gave his heart to the Lord May 2, 2009. He had both courage and faith. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, pop paw and brother. He loved his horses and spending time with his wife, children and grandson. Before he gave his heart to the Lord, he loved fighting game cocks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry Jr. and Eunice Proffitt; a nephew, Shea Maxwell; and his best friend, Terry Lester.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Verna Proffitt Roberts of the home; two loving daughters, Erica Roberts of the home, and Billye Renée Roberts-Rowe of Rockridge; one precious son, Zachary Adam Roberts of the home; precious grandson, Coltin Alan Roberts-Rowe of Rockridge; son-in-law, Jason Rowe who he loved like a son; two brothers, Halsey Roberts Jr. and wife Alice of Keen Ridge Road near Paynesville, W.Va., and Jackie Roberts and wife Shannon of Beartown; seven sisters, Betty Tucker and husband Neil of Sarasota, Fla., Barbara Maxwell and husband Kenny of Johnny Cake, Kathy Hamilton of Union, Pam Bumgardner of Huntington, Carmellia Roberts of Johnny Cake, Brenda Cline and husband Buck of Litwar, and Carla Terry and husband Gary of Abington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 11 o'clock with Pastors Michael Brooks, Danny Bowles, and Roger Ferrell officiating at the Mile Branch Church of the Living God at Mile Branch, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Billy and Verna Roberts Cemetery at Beartown. Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Roberts, Halsey Roberts, Jr., Jason Rowe, Jimmy Lambert, Jabo Hall, Jessie Roberts, and Donald Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be James Bowles, Steve Lambert, Carl Wayne Hagerman, Buddy Shirley, Buck Cline, and Allen Morrison...."
