"Phyllis Ann Rice, 80 of Iaeger, West Virginia went to her Heavenly Home September 18, 2021 to be with her family and friends. Phyllis was born August 6, 1941 in Bradshaw, WV. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mildred (Nan) Fields. Phyllis was a longtime member of The Iaeger United Methodist Church, attending for over 40 years. Phyllis retired in 2001 as the Finance Director for The McDowell County Board of Education where she had worked for 30 years. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Rice; sister, Janie Fields; niece, Jennifer Fields and daughter-in-law, Sheila Rice. Those left to cherish her memories include: her son, Alan Rice, which was the love of her life; his fiancée, Linda Cline; grandson, Jacob Rice, she was so proud to be his “Grammy” and loved and adored him and his wife, Hayley; loving brother, Michael Fields and his wife, Tammy who were always there for her, special great niece, Michaela Mathena as well as special great nephew, Zachary Fields whom she loved and cherished as her great grandkids; special great grandkids: Kevin, Kaitlynn and Joshua Cline; nephew, Stephen Fields and his wife, Angela; great nephew, Shane Fields; a host of loving friends including her big sister, Dee Dee Bivens and husband, Butch; Glenda Hatcher; Jonnie Cook; Nancy Shirley and her husband, Leonard; Barbara Pennington; John and Shelley Mitchem; Lisa Mullins and her beloved cat and roommate, Tipper. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Reverend Randall Dority officiating at The Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield / Tazewell Road in Bluefield, Virginia. Serving as pallbearers will be: Michael Fields, Jacob Rice, Stephen Fields, Jason Cline, Leonard Shirley and Alan Rice. Friends may visit with the family at The Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger on Wednesday morning, September 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
