"Howard Beaver, wanted for the muder of Preston Green on Indian Creek on December 2, and for whom a reward o$500 had been posted by Wyoming county authorities, was apprehended by officers at Cedar Bluff, near Richlands, Virginia, and brought here and lodged in the Pineville jail Monday.Two other young men who are said to have been with Beavers at the time of the killing are also being held as material witnesses.
"Assording to authorities, the trouble between Beavers and Green was brought about by an argument over a moonshine still. Beavers was thought to have been operating a moonshine still, which, a few days before the killing he found to have been destroyed. He suspected Green of being directly or indirectly resposible for the wrecking of the plant.
"In company with two young men, Beavers met Green in the road on December 2. Leaving his companions, Beavers called Green aside and engaged in conversation. After a few words between them, Beavers, it is alledged, shot Green dead with a Winchester rifle."

"She is probably best remembered for the years she hosted "Romper Room" and "Coffee Break" on WHIS/WVVA where she also worked as Continuity Director. She was later employed at Bluefield College in the Office of Admissions. Mrs. Branch also worked as the Director for the Tazewell Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tazewell County Office on Youth. After retirement, Mrs. Branch was employed by the Council of the Southern Mountains as a "Foster Grandparent" at Whitethorn Elementary School, the Wade Center, Energy Express Summer Program at Bluefield Intermediate School, and finally at Bluewell Elementary School.
