Born November 03, 1956, Betty Jean was the daughter of the late William and Belle Kerns Browning.
Betty Jean was of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed spending time with her family, loved working with her flowers and cooking. Betty Jean was the proud Owner and Operator of Betty’s Diner where she was surrounded by an abundance of friends whom she loved dearly.

"In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was preceded in passing by her late husband, Charles Kenny Steele; son, Kenneth Ray Steele; great grandchildren: Trenton and Reese Steele; as well as her sisters: Ruby Adkins, Grace Keene, Hazel McBride, Ella Mae Sexton and Deborah Browning; brothers: Frank, Johnny, Mack and Elsworth Browning.

Pallbearers will be Family and Friends. Burial will follow at the McCoy Cemetery on Coon Branch Mountain near Iaeger, West Virginia. "Melissa Ray Workman, 47 of Carswell Hollow, Kimball, WV went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Born February 1, 1973 in Bluefield, WV., she was the daughter of the late Danny Ray Patrick Sr. and Ruby Pack.

"Melissa was a very unique and special person. Her outgoing personality took charge when she entered a room. You knew she was there. She was a kindhearted person who always greeted you with a hug or kiss on the cheek. A few of her favorite past times were watching Law and Order, Chicago P.D. and dancing. She always took time to watch wrestling with her husband. Melissa also had a love for animals having three dogs and two cats. She touched the hearts of many and will be sadly missed yet, her loving ways should bring a smile to all that knew her.

"Survivors include: Husband, Billy Joe Workman of the home who always thought of Melissa as the great love of his life and best friend. Mother-in-law, Vicki Smith. Brothers-in-law, Clarence David Workman and Steve Workman. Father-in law Hurley H. Workman. Sisters; Ann Cochran, Tammy England and Angie Patrick. "Elmer was born March 6, 1927, to the late Elmer and Mattie Webb.

"He was an ordained minister and loved singing, playing music and writing songs for the Lord. He loved life and loved it to the fullest. He loved his family and was full of laughter and stories of his life. Elmer served in World War II with the US Army and stationed in Germany. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association where he retired after many years working as a fire boss. Elmer was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

"The family was privileged to have copies of the book “From the Shovel to the Sheer” where he wrote about his many mining experiences. He later retired as a Federal Mine Inspector. He attended Brenton Baptist Church for many years until the past two and a half years when he moved to his daughter and son-in-law’s in Ballard where he attended Ballard First Missionary Baptist Church.

"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Joye Spence Webb; son, Kevin A. Webb; brothers, Robert Webb and Dennis Webb; sisters, Ethel Heath, Arbutus Hall Steel, and Leona Haggard.

"Those left to celebrate his life are his special friend, Magdoline Scalf; his daughter, Marsha Riffe and husband Dwayne; his son, Michael Webb and wife Gail; his sister, Toni Carr; brothers, Richard Webb and wife Pat, Forest “Uncle Frog” Webb and wife Joanna. His grandchildren, Brad Justice and wife Stacey, Missy Tiller and husband Rusty, Joseph Webb and wife Heather, Kenneth Webb, Heather Williams and husband Chris, Joseph Riffe and wife Kristen, Leanna Adams and husband Jeffery, Alyssa Webb and companion Jimmy Cline, Alex Webb and wife Destiny; forty great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

"Mrs. Minnie Susan Linton Bowyer, 97, of Pineville, departed this earth on July 25, 2020. She was born on November 14, 1922, in Dorr, WV, and was the last member of the late Asa and Ethel Tomlinson Linton family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowyer was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marvin Bowyer; her grandson, Lloyd Bowyer; and three daughters-in-law: Catherine Sarver Bowyer, Monica Brown Bowyer, and Pam Adams Bowyer. She was also preceded by her sisters, Ruth Linton, Edith “Dutch” McClung, Grace Wickline, and Sibyl Ball and brothers, Robert and Baby Linton. Mrs. Bowyer was valedictorian of the Union High School class of 1940, where she was also a member of the school’s first girls basketball team. She cherished regular reunions with her classmates and attended every one they had. She married the love of her life on November 20, 1943 and set up housekeeping in Union, later moving to Mabscott and ultimately settling in Pineville in 1952. Mrs. Bowyer was a dedicated and active member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Bowyer will be remembered fondly by her three sons, Gary Bowyer and his wife, Penny, of Bessemer City, NC; Grady Bowyer and his wife, Sharon, of St. Albans, WV; and David Bowyer and his wife, Belinda, of Ripley, WV; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-greatgrandchildren. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center in Charleston, WV and HospiceCare of WV, whose warmth and compassion have given us the strength for this end-of-life journey. The family will gather for a private service on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at noon at Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV with graveside rites at Green Hill Cemetery inUnion to follow. There will be a memorial service in Pineville at a later date, at which time the family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Pineville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 493, Pineville, WV 24874.
