"Mary Lynn Mullins, 69 years of age, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina following a brief illness. Mary was born April 2, 1952 in Welch, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Mastin B. West and Sylvia Dillon - West."Mary grew up in Roderfield, West Virginia and graduated Welch High School in 1970. Shortly thereafter, Mary married her best friend and started their family. Mary went on to cosmetology school as well as numerous community and charitable roles. Owning and successfully operating a small business in Raleigh, NC for a number of years, her life was dedicated to her roles as wife, mother and loving grandmother above all else.
"In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Gay Epps.
"Those remaining to cherish her life and the wonderful memories therein include her husband, Thurman Mullins and three children: Jason Mullins, Jeff Mullins and Khrystal Gortva of Raleigh, NC. Mary is also survived by five grandchildren: Brendan Mullins of Kentucky, Brittany Gortva and Logan Dillon of Florida, Dyllan Gortva of New Hampshire and Declan Mullins of Raleigh, NC. Additionally, Mary was blessed with a large and loving family including brothers: Benny West and Martin West of Roderfield, WV and sisters: Martha Muncy of Roderfield, WV and Laura Richmond of Hinton, West Virginia.
"In October, Mary and Thurman celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary along with their sons and beloved Pomeranian, Bandit. Mary was always there for her family and friends and was known for putting family support and health before her own. Mary lived a full life of love and happiness – she will truly be missed.
"Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM – Noon at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Martin West officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM with burial following at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Bluewell, West Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

" At a ceremony in the Cadet Chapel, United States Military Academy, West Point, N. Y., on Saturday, Miss Pamela Jane Stokes, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Donald E. Stokes of Seminole Way became the bride of David Lee Sackett, Lieutenant, United States Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Milton Sackett of Welch, W.Va. Chaplain James D. Ford officiated at the ceremony which was followed by a reception at the Officer's Club. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of candlelight peau d'ange lace and silk faille with a chapel length train and a matching full length lace mantilla. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and gypsophilia. Miss Joan Anderson of Sagamore. Road was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sisters, Mrs. H. William Lewis of Ann Arbor, Mich, and Mrs.Sanford M. Reece Jr. of Loring Air Force Base, Me.,and Miss Sandra Reece of Portland, Ore. and Miss Janet Christie of Short Hills. Miss Deborah Lewis, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The attendants were gowned in lime ereen linen and carried cascade bouquets of yellow carnations. Lt. Michael Selvitelle of Morehead City, N.C. served as best man. Ushers were Mr. Lewis, Captain Reece Jr., Frederick M. Sackett Jr., brother of the bridegroom, and Peter Vil-lani of Welch. Six West Point cadets served as saber bearers. Mrs. Sackett, a 1965 graduate of Millburn High School, attended the Uni versity of Denver. Her husband graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1968. 1he couple will reside in Killeen.Tex.
