"WAR — She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil P. Linkous; parents, Elizabeth and Gage Kelly; sister, Elizabeth Buckberry and brother, Basil Kelly

"She was born in Bristol, VA, on July 19, 1919. She went to Wingate College in North Carolina where she was a cheerleader and graduated with a degree in education. She moved to War in 1939 and worked at the Draft Board for 2 years. The bulk of her working life was spent as a Nationwide Insurance Agent. She received numerous awards including the 1972 Columbus region Life Anniversary Award establishing a new company record. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church serving as the financial secretary for 48 years and member of the choir and WMU. She served as Grand Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star-Berwind Lodge. She also was very active in the PTAs at War Elementary, War Junior High and Big Creek High Schools. She was an avid supporter of the Big Creek High School Athletic Programs.

"The visitation will be held at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in War, WV, Friday, August 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral will be at 12 noon with the Reverend Spencer Oxford officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA."
