"Jimmy Roger “Jimmy Mac” McReynolds, Sr., age 72 of War, WV passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA after a brief illness. He was born January 25, 1943 in the Dix Creek Community of Tazewell County, VA and was a son of the late Dot and Grace Brown McReynolds. “Jimmy Mac” to those who knew him, was a hardworking man and good provider for his family. He was a retired coal miner, having worked for Consol many years and at one time was a self employed contractor. Mr. McReynolds was a man who loved the outdoors: fishing, camping and boating were his favorite hobbies. He was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in War, WV and a member of the U.M.W.A. Local #6025 at Bishop, VA. Mr. McReynolds loved his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends; he will be greatly missed by them all."In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Johnny McReynolds; two sisters, Kathleen Stout and Darlene McReynolds; five brothers, Walter, Ted, Bill, Johnny and Eddie McReynolds.
"Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of fifteen years, Freda Dunford McReynolds; one daughter, Juanita Lynn McReynolds Powers and husband, Russell of North Carolina; two sons, Jimmy R. McReynolds, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Berwind, WV and Robert E. McReynolds and wife, Traci of Welch, WV; two step-sons, Virgil Kenneth Payne and wife, Dianna and Jesse Payne and wife, Chrissy both of North Carolina; one sister, Rita Cooper of Tazewell, VA; two brothers, Dot “J.D.” McReynolds and Freddie McReynolds, both of Tazewell, VA; eleven grandchildren, Daton, Amber, Sophia, Tracey, McKayla, Austin, Kane, Destiny, Kayla, Lindsey and Tyson; several great-grandchildren; extended family members and many friends also survive.
"Funeral services for Jimmy Roger “Jimmy Mac” McReynolds will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Spencer Oxford officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be George Hampton, Herb Billings, Roger Hockett, C.E. McReynolds, Skeeter Hyatt and James McKinney.
