"Robie Roland Castle, 82, of Welch, WV, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Born January 26, 1940 in Dungannon, Virginia, he was the son of the late Bishop Castle and Lottie Baldwin Castle."Robie was a retired coal miner from U. S. Steel # 50 mines. He attended Helping Hands Hemphill Holiness Church. He was an entertainer with the band “Muddy Bottom Boys” for over 20 years, he loved Bluegrass Music and flatfoot dancing for which he won many competitions. Robie was a hard-working man, and a very sociable person.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack and Bill Castle; two sisters, Faye Sutherland and Edith Castle; one step-daughter, Ann Sexton.
"Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Virginia Lee Green Castle; one sister, Judy Sutherland of the Welch-Pineville Road; one step-granddaughter, Kristin Cline and husband Jamie of Gilbert; one step-great granddaughter, Haylei Rowe of Pineville; a favorite nephew, Jerry Sutherland of the Welch-Pineville Road and other nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 27, 2022 at 6:00 PM from the Douglas Mortuary Chapel in Welch with Pastors J. B. Robinette and Sam Prevento, officiating. Following the services, the body will be cremated, in keeping with the wishes of the deceased.
"Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
"In lieu of flowers donation may be made to his church, Helping Hands Hemphill Holiness Church, 4335 Stewart Street, Welch, WV 24801.

"RITES TODAY FOR WILLIAM HENRY ALLEN, 63.Pioneer Settler In This Section Was Victim of Cerebral Hemorrhage;
Had Been Ill Nearly Three YearsLast rites will be conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist Church in Welch for William Henry Allen, 63-year-old resident of Welch and a pioneer settler in this section, who died at his home on Linden Street Wednesday night of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Allen's death came after an illness of nearly three years, and is the second death in that family during the past few weeks. His son Mack H. Allen, died suddenly at his home in Gary on Sunday, November 14, 1937.
"Mr. Allen was born September 28, 1874 and reared in Penhook, Va. and was the son of William Henry Allen and Frances Ferguson Allen. At the turn of the century he moved to Switchback and lived there for a year after which he came to Welch. He resided here for more than 35 years, and during this time was employed as a carpenter and contractor. He was married twice, his first wife, Sallie Wade Ferguson Allen, having died thirty years ago.
"He is survived by his widow the former Miss Sally Sue Mitchell; one son by this marriage, Calvin J. Allen, of Welch; and two sons by his first marriage, Tom and Brice Allen, carpenters employed by the United States Coal and Coke Company in Gary. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Fannie David of Gary and Mrs. Sophia Powell of Switchback. The following children preceded him to the grave; Mrs. Bertha A. Dillon in 1932; James W. Allen of Welch on June 12, 1935; and Mack H. Allen, well-known Gary resident.
"The services today will be led by Rev. D.M. Dorsey, pastor of the church after which interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
