"Linda Sue (Halsey) Hamilton, 76, of Pineville, passed away peacefully on January 31 due to complications from a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing at Bower’s Hospice House. Linda was born on December 6, 1946 in Pineville WV to Lacy and Eva Halsey. Following her graduation from Pineville High School she married Clinton Hamilton and spent the next several years raising her three daughters. Linda loved her immediate and extended family dearly and she and her husband served as honorary grandparents and great grandparents to a number of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Lacy and Eva Halsey, her sisters Jean Wallen, Mary Lambert and Sharon Johns and her brothers Alvin Halsey and Larry Halsey. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Clinton; her three daughters Tammy Cook (Don), Melinda Hamilton and Rose Hamilton (Kevin); and her sister Karen Lattie (Doug) and her two sons Chase and Aaron. Linda was a loving aunt to her niece Vickie Lockett (Julius) and children Jessica and Ty; nephew Kenny Wallen and his three children Katie, Ethan, and Madison; as well as multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her honorary grandchildren Karrie Mutterback (Richard) and Jason Cook (Tonya) and their children Hailee, Deegan, Maleah, Bryce, and Kinlee. Linda was well liked by everyone, mostly due to her positive energy and generosity for others. She was an amazing mother, honorary grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague and friend. She touched the lives of so many people and always made time to help others. Linda loved cooking and baking for her family, she was an avid reader, loved flowers and her backyard koi pond. Linda was most passionate about quilting. She never passed up an opportunity to shop for new fabric and if she was at home, she could be found in her sewing room creating beautiful quilts for her family and friends to treasure. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always up for an adventure. Linda loved to travel and never turned down a good road trip. She loved the beautiful scenery of Yellowstone, the Bad Lands, visiting the Grand Tetons, Las Vegas, New Orleans and touring Civil War Battlefields. One of her most memorable trips was a cruise to Alaska. She enjoyed attending quilt shows, visiting new casinos, and she made many good memories camping and vacationing with family and friends. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to all who loved Linda. We are so grateful for all of our family and friends for their support and prayers. The family would like to thank her oncologist Dr. Le, of UVA, her fabulous nurses at Princeton Community Hospital, and the caring staff at Bower’s Hospice House for their compassionate care during her final days. Join us for a Celebration of Life to be held at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville, WV on February 11, 2023. Visitation for family and friends at noon followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm"
