"Mary Constance "Connie" Cordisco Walls of 690 White Pine Drive, Bland, Va., departed this life September 13, 2011. She was born in War, W.Va. on March 3, 1949 to the late Patsey and Marjorie Bise Cordisco. Connie graduated Big Creek High School and attended Concord University. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Kathy Greene and Rebecca Sue Cordisco."Connie leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Roy Daniel Walls; three devoted children, Angelia Walls-Smith, Jennie Crabtree and husband Brad, Joseph Walls and wife Amy; five cherished grandchildren remain, Christopher Walls, Miranda Martin, Nicholas Smith, Jessica Smith, Matthew Walls; a beloved sister, Patty Cordisco Hawkins and husband Doug; two nieces and two nephews, Paige Beam, Beth Stutso, Scott Greene, Pete Hawkins; great-nieces, Peyton Beam and Sofia Stutso; great-nephews, Patrick Beam and Kaleb Hawkins live to remember and love her. "Son of James Sale and Martha Henderson; husband of 1) Ada Mae Kirby and 2) Ola Ethel Sale. He was married twice more, once to a Holloway and another woman, name unknown to me. Father of Cornelius Calvin Sale, Jr. who was adopted and renamed Robert Carlyle Byrd, US Senator from West Virginia. This Cornelius' death certificate says he was buried at Hinshaw Baptist Church, but Hinshaw does not have a cemetery, however, within walking distance of two blocks is the North Wilkesboro Town Cemetery, formerly "Baptist Cemetery", and his first wife is buried there, but in doing research at Mountlawn, I found him buried with his 4th and last wife and son, Jimmy Q."

"Grace Dickson Little age 99 of West Jefferson passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Wilkes Health & Rehab. Mrs. Little was born in McDowell County, WV on Thursday, October 18, 1923 to the late Quincy Neal and Ella Campbell Dickson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, Herman Franklin Little and three brothers, Earl, Glenn and Howard Dickson. She worked for McNeill Department Store in West Jefferson until the age of 80. Grace enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, gardening, sewing and was an avid sports fan, especially UNC Carolina basketball. She was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church."Mrs. Little is survived by: two daughters, Joyce Greer and husband Junior and Janet Black and husband Bobby both of West Jefferson, three grandchildren, Eric Greer and Wife Becky, Misty Randle and husband Jarrod, Kevin Black and wife Stacey, seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Greer and fiancée Monty Sauter, Allyson Greer, Sydney Greer, Grace Randle, Aaron Randle, Dylan Black, Caden Black and several nieces and nephews also survive.
