“Granny” Irene Riffe Cline, 86, of Lower Muzzle Creek near Hanover, WV, took the top road home, after a long battle with breast cancer, Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
“Granny” Irene was born September 15, 1925 a daughter of the late Virgil and Mary Roberts Riffe. She was a lifelong resident of Lower Muzzle Creek and a faithful and dedicated member of the Ikes Fork Freewill Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher’s aide for the Wyoming County Board of Education. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, her church ladies’ aide group, and the McDowell County Council On Aging in Iaeger, where she made many special friends.
"In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one infant sister, Loraine, and two infant, twin brothers, Clyde and Kyle."Survivors include seven children, Darrell (Diane) Riffe of Cottageville, WV, Ona (Shirley) Cline of Ikes Fork, Joyce (Junior) Bailey of Frankfort, OH, Carl (Melissa) Cline of Ikes Fork, James (Vickie) Cline of Ikes Fork, WV, Eddie (Alice) Cline of Gloucester, VA, Ray (Cathy) Cline of Lyburn, WV; one sister, Betty Lester of Winston Salem, NC; one brother, Elmer “Faye” Riffe of Gloucester, VA; fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three nephews, two nieces, and a host of extended family members and friends.
"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1 o’clock with Brother Homer Blankenship, Brother Jackie Jesse, and Brother Doug Blankenship officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in the Riffe Cemetery on Lower Muzzle Creek near Hanover..."

"Joan Carol Davis Aliff, 69, of Oceana, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 18,
2019 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV. She was born on July 15, 1950 a daughter of the late
Lacey and Katie Johnson Davis. Joan is a member of the Family Praise and Worship Center and a 1968
graduate of Oceana High School. She worked various jobs including Magic Mart, Exel, Dollar General,
Nishida, and Walmart / Sams Club return centers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her
son Chad Davis; step-son Anthony Aliff; and a brother-in-law Dennie “Chico” Osborne. Survivors include
two sisters Shelia (Barry Young) Osborne of Oceana with whom she made her home and Nina (Timmy)
Brewster of Beckley; two brothers Danny (Susan) Davis of Grandview and Kenny (Rhonda) Davis of
Summerville, SC; two granddaughters Kennedy Lacey and her mother Madelyn and Raegan Michelle and her
mother Kristi; a step son Jason Aliff; three nieces Crystal Underwood, Lacey Collette and Cassidy Davis;
three nephews Danny M. Davis, Aaron Osborne and Matt Brewster; three great nieces Emily, Kinley and
Kylee Underwood; two great nephews Austin and Braden Underwood; her best friend since childhood
Charlotte Branham Sullivan whom she talked to numerous times daily on the phone; lifelong friends
Rosemary Stafford Elswick and Dwight Brown; her fur baby Chloe Paige; and a host of other loving family
and friends. Memorial service will be held at 3PM on Sunday September 29th at the Family Praise and
Worship Center, Oceana, WV with Pastor Timmy Brewster officiating. Friends may gather with the family
from 2PM until time of services on Sunday at the church. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated.
