"Another soldier called home, well done thy good and faithful servant. Odell Cook, 89, of Otsego passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley following a short illness.

"Born June 22, 1930 at New Richmond, he was the son of the late Orville and Nola (Halsey) Cook.

"Odell began his 40 plus year coalmining career at Tralee helping build the Tralee Prep Plant, later worked there as a Heavy Equipment Operator to reclaim the Tralee mine property, and retiring from the prep plant at Sabine. He was a member of UMWA and was a faithful member of the Otsego Bible Chapel.

"Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, May Lou Cook of Otsego; one son, Michael Cook and his wife, Linda of Otsego; and several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

"Services will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Pastor Mike Endreson officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

"Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

"CDC guidelines and social distancing will be followed will be followed for the visitation and funeral.

"Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

"KOPPERSTON - Avil Grosse, 84, died Friday, July 30, 1999, following a long illness.

"Born March 13, 1915, in Allen, Ky., he was the son of the late Nanny Meade-Grosse (Deceased) and Mattison Grosse (Deceased).

"Mr. Grosse was a retired employee of Eastern Associated Coal at Kopperston, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 138 AF&AM, Pineville, Scottish Rite, Free Masonary SJ, 32nd degree, and Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston.

"He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Grosse (Deceased); four sisters, Maude Grosse-Shaffer (Deceased), Helen Meade (Deceased), Pearl Grosse-Parsons (Deceased) and Ruth Grosse (Deceased); and one brother, Curtis Meade (Deceased).

"Survivors include two daughters, Claudia Grosse-Forren and husband Butch of Kopperston and Carol Morgan and Samuel Muscari Sr. of Clearfork; five grandchildren, Clay Morgan and wife Jennifer of Mullens, Fred Morgan and wife Pam of Bluefield, Va., Bart Forren and wife Kerrina of Kopperston, Amy Carol Forren of Kopperston and Heath Forren of Kopperston; and one brother, Beecher Grosse of Whitehouse, Ky.

"In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her husband Donny Robertson, and an uncle Ronald Lee Hatfield.

"In addition to her father those left to cherish her memories are a son Terry Lee Daniels of Gilbert, two daughters Shirley JoAnn (Steven) Jarvis of NC and Charity Cook of Mullens, a step daughter Kayla Cook of Welch, two sisters Melissa (Jason) Ratcliff of NC and Betty (Jesse) Vance of Pineville, five brothers Roy Hatfield of Keyrock, Richard (Amanda) Hatfield of Matheny, Johnny (Lora) Hatfield of Beckley, Nick (Shasta) Hatfield of Pineville and Danny Hatfield of Pineville, thirteen nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.

"Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, February 6th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Cline Cemetery, Simon, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12pm until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
