"Patsy Sue Shrader (Hatfield) Meadows went to be with the Lord after her courageous battle with brain cancer on 08/29/2022."Patsy was born October 3, 1954 in Grundy, Virginia. Her family moved to Pineville, West
Virginia when she was a child. After growing up, she became a coal miner and worked for Sabine
Mines and Itmann Mines located in West Virginia. She later obtained her cosmetology license in
Southport, North Carolina where she worked at many salons prior to opening her own salon, Hair
Master, in Southport. After retiring, she moved back to West Virginia to be closer to her mother. In
her spare time, she would wash and style hair in the nursing home, as well as garden and complete
home repairs."Patsy was such a free spirit. She was vivacious, full of life, and was a little bit of a rebel. She
was independent and just needed to figure things out for herself. She was the life of the party, and
heads turned when she walked in the room. Her laugh was contagious and would spread like wildfire.
She always saw the best in people and gave them the benefit of the doubt…always rooted for the
underdog and never knew a stranger. Nobody would ever go hungry around her. She would give
them the shirt off her back or her last dollar. She was a hustler and knew the importance of hard
work, but always put family first. Her home was inviting and cozy, always smelling of oranges.
Summer days spent by her pool with her grandchildren were her favorite...citronella candles and Skin
so Soft filled the air, while Tubthumbing or Redneck Woman played on the speakers. She loved to
dance, even when nobody else was around. Low country boils, barbecue ribs, potato salad, and
banana pudding were frequent on the menu at her house. Crab legs were her favorite…she could eat
her weight in them. Some days, you would see Patsy driving around in her Mustang with the top
down and a 5 ft tall Kermit the Frog in her backseat. Her favorite beauty secret was Preparation H for
her face. That is why she had flawless skin and almost no wrinkles. Although she loved cosmetology,
watching movies was her passion...she loved horror movies and Sci-Fi. She loved movie night at her
house. She was one of a kind. Stubborn should have been her middle name, as even in sickness, you
could not make her do anything she did not want to do. Patsy was genuine, as her personality was
consistent regardless of who was around, and she was never worried about the material things in life.
She would stretch a dollar farther than anyone else. Her grandchildren were her world, and she would
do anything for the 3 of them."Patsy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Shrader, and her sister Linda (Shrader)
McGraw. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Ella (Viars) Thomas of Pineville, WV,
her son and daughter in law, Robbie and Teresa Hatfield of New Richmond, WV, her daughter and
son in law, Wendy and Aaron Bone of Goldsboro, NC. Her grandchildren, Taylor Brogan and fiancé
Danielle Bradley of Bennettsville, SC, Alexis Brogan of Greenville, NC, and Logan Hatfield of New
Richmond, WV. Her brothers Ronnie (Pam) Shrader of Southport, NC, Randy (Debbie) Shrader of
Southport, NC, Billy (Angela) Thomas of Pineville, WV, her sisters Connie Hill (David Mullens) of
Pineville, WV, and Sandra (James) Trent of Princeton, WV, many nieces and nephews, great nieces
and nephews, and a great-great nephew."There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Casteel Event
Center, 129 Main Avenue in Pineville, WV. Patsy would not want to be remembered with sadness

JOSEPH (Special) — Funeral services for Garland Tommy Comer, 37, of St. Joseph, who was fatally injured in a car accident of [sic on] the Natchez-Vidalia bridge early yesterday, were held today."Last rites were said at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ at St. Joseph. The Rev. Roy Stegall of Ferriday officiated. Burial followed in the Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah.
