"Bluefield Daily Telegraph"KEYSTONE — Robert Joseph Belcher, 75, of Keystone, W.Va., passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at his sister's residence. Born August 18, 1937 in Algoma, he was the son of the late Wiley E. and Bertha M. Watkins Belcher.
"During his life, he served as the Chief of Police in Keystone, W.Va. and later he was the Assistant Superintendent of Eastern Associated Coal and most recently worked construction as a drywall finisher. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending his time outdoors.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Angia Virginia Bowling Belcher, daughter Theresa Karen Belcher; brothers Edward and Bobby Belcher and sisters Barbara Jean George and Gail Albrecht.
"He will be sadly missed by his daughters Sherry Wysong and husband Christopher of Barboursville, W.Va.; Patricia Hamilton and husband Wendel of Huntington, W.Va.; Pamela Denise Belcher of Barboursville, W.Va. and one son - Robert J. Belcher Jr. of Keystone, W.Va. Brothers Nick Belcher and wife Sybil of Beckley, W.Va.; Sonny Belcher and wife Dixie of Bluewell, W.Va.; Jack Belcher and wife Meta Jo of Michigan; sisters Linda Christian and husband Charlie of Michigan and Judy Johnson and husband Butch of Burke Mtn., W.Va. Grandchildren April Sneed, Daniel and Elizabeth Ball, Sarah and Bridgette Belcher and Robert J. Belcher III. Great-grandson, Anthony Sneed, along with a host of nieces and nephews and fiancée Suzanne Compton of Bluefield, W.Va.
"Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.
"Funeral services for Robert will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, W.Va. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Nick Belcher officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
