"Rev. Ira Vanda Lafferty, 84, of McGraws, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his residence following a long illness surrounded by his family.

"Born August 26, 1932 at Milam, he was the son of the late Lacy Dolliver Lafferty (1905-1981) and Agnes Trump-Lafferty (1911-Deceased).

"Ira was a lifelong resident of McGraws, he was a disabled coal miner where he worked for Oglebay & Norton at Otsego, Hawley in Basin, and Ranger Fuel in Bolt.

"His goal as Pastor was to see souls won for the Lord and he dedicated his life to being Pastor at Ravencliff Church of God. He was honored to have served that Pastorship for 36 years where he served not only his congregation but his community.

"In his leisure he loved to travel, hunt, fish, and enjoyed woodworking and building. He loved to watch the ocean and hunt for seashells. Ira liked eating out where he especially enjoyed picking at the waiters and waitresses. He also loved camp meetings and witnessing to people.

"When we pause to remember Ira, we shall all remember his dedication to his Lord and Savior, his family, his church family, and we shall remember how he enjoyed life and was always full of joy and enjoyed being a prankster. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

"In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Bailey-Lafferty (1935-Deceased) whom he married on October 4, 1952 in Ravencliff, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1952, Page 186, Application Date: October 2, 1952); four brothers, Roy Lafferty (1927-Deceased), Lacy Melvin Lafferty (1930-1988), Franklin "Darrell" Lafferty (1936-2017), and John Lewis Lafferty (1944-2016); and four sisters, Jane Lafferty-Shinn (1940-2013), Agnes "Marie" Lafferty-George (1934-2015), Rosa Ellen Lafferty-Shumate (1928-2015), and Ruby Elizabeth Lafferty-Stock (1947-2013).

"Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 18 years, Shirley Ann Estep-Trump-Lafferty; three children, Ira Steven Lafferty and his wife, Linda Lafferty of McGraws, Phillip Lafferty and his wife, Sandra Lafferty of McGraws, and Kathy Lafferty-Winfrey and her husband, Ray Winfrey of McGraws; three stepchildren, Cheryl Lynn Trump (1970-2018) of McGraws, Jerry "Jay" Trump and his wife, Jennifer Trump of Chapmanville, and Brian Trump and his wife, Angela Trump of Beckley; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a special cousin, Claude Lafferty of Milton; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved; and a host of church family.
