He was born November 17, 1952, in Welch, WV a son of the late Reverend Harold and Julia Hagerman Akers."He married the love of his life Drema Brooks Akers on March 3, 1973. He was a retired Coal Miner from Island Creek & Consol Coal. William was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons, and his buddy & special neighbor Jerry Whitt. He was loved and adored by so many.

"Drema Lee Akers 64 of Bradshaw, West Virginia died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Born November 19, 1957 in Welch, West Virginia to Clarence and Virginia Shelton Brooks. Drema married the love of her life on March 3, 1973. Drema was a homemaker and took pride in her home. To her, her world revolved around her husband, kids and grandkids. Drema is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Virginia Brooks; father in law, Harold Akers; sister, Patricia McClanahan and special sister in laws, Diana Chaffins and Ruby Keene.
