"Alice “Gay” Burks, born July 17th, 1945 left this world peacefully on February 1st, 2022 after battling a long illness."She was born in Panther, WV to the late Lillie Jane Riffe Lee and Bill Lee. Gay spent most of her adult life in the community of Roderfield WV where she was well known and loved by many. She was a member of Roderfield Methodist Church where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior for 50+ years. She served as Treasurer for her Church, was a member of the Roderfield Women’s Club, and volunteered at the local Food Bank with many of her special friends.
"Her life was spent as a dedicated homemaker to her loving family. Her home always had an open door to relatives and friends. At a moment’s notice, she would make space for an overnight stay and some of the best meals and desserts for all who came through the door. Her home is a place of memories for so many. Weekends throughout the summer, you would find a competitive game of kickball in her backyard, dancing and games in her basement, and awesome fellowship. She always looked forward to spring and summer where you would find her working tirelessly in her garden of beautiful flowers. Maintaining her beautiful flowers was one of her favorite hobbies.
"In addition to her parents Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Henderson Burks, a brother, Rob Lee; a brother-in-law, Tracy Burks; and an infant brother Jack Lee.

Leonard was a 1980 Graduate of Mt. View High School. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University in 1984.
"His early employment began with Domino’s Pizza where he worked alongside college friends that what would become his lifetime friends.
"He was employed for five years in Computer Programming at Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA.

"His hobbies included fishing and boating, a love for music and supporting youth sports. He was an avid Comic Book collector and attended the Comic Convention yearly. He loved pets and had a special dog “Ellie Mae” that was by his side for many years.

He was the only son of Alice L. Kelly Thomas of Bluefield, WV and the late Ben Simon. He grew up in Wilcoe, WV and was a 1968 graduate of Gary High School. Dexter had attended Bluefield State College and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. For a number of years, he was employed by N&W Railroad and later retired as a truck driver for a local company. He was a faithful, devoted member and an Usher at First A.M.E. Zion Church in Bluefield, WV and served wherever needed. He enjoyed sports and listening to music."In addition to his father Ben, Dexter was preceded in death, October 25, 2020 by his wife of 33 years, Christine A. Harris Simon.
