"Elmer Rose Elmer Rose, 60, of Coon Branch Mountain near Iaeger, passed away at his residence early Sunday morning, October 16, 2011. Elmer was born March, 19, 1951 in Hurley, VA, a son of the late Cecil Elmer and Fannie Nipper Rose. He was a retired underground coal miner and affiliated with many churches in McDowell County. He dedicated his life to God and loved to serve him. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 21 years, Lissie Francis Lowe Rose, one brother, Ervin Rose and three sisters, Stella Nipper, Marie "Peanut" Keaton, and Linda Payne. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Rose and fiancee Fernando Ramirez of Spartanburg, SC; one son, Elmer Lee Rose and wife Crystal of Spartanburg; two step daughters, Miranda Mitchell and husband Keith of Maiden, NC; and Melissa Ellen Green of Hickory, NC; eight grandchildren, Brittany and Chelsea Lathem both of Spartanburg, SC, Jason Rose of Arvonia, VA, Lyndi Graham and husband John of Spartanburg, Victoria Suttles of Spartanburg, Matthew Beal and wife Cynthia "Cindy",Robbie Dawson and Michelle Mitchell all of Maiden; two sisters, Beth Everson and husband Donald of Lexington, NC, and Mary Garlic and husband Ricky of Bradshaw; two brothers, James Akers and wife Connie of War, and Graham Akers and wife Carolyn of Bradshaw; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Sharon Mullins of Iaeger.
