2018 at her home. She was born on November 12, 1927 in Christian, WV a daughter of the late Ezra and
Maude Bowen Blankenship. Daisy is a member of the Guyandotte Baptist Church. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by her husband Harrison Abbott, Sr.; two grandchildren Nicholas Abbott
and Sandy (Toler) Cline; a sister Mildie Cresong; three brothers Alfred Blankenship, Jess Stevens and Bill
Stevens; sons-in-law Ronald Toler and Otis Beaver. Survivors include four daughters Romaine (Jeff Toler)
Morgan of Oceana, Patty (David Pierson, Sr.) Toler of Lynco, Sue Beaver of Cedar Creek and Trecia Kay
(Roger) Hayes of TN; a son Harrison (Nancy) Abbott, Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and
great great grandchildren; a brother Ed Blankenship; special caregiver Timothy Cline; and a host of other
loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at the
Guyandotte Baptist Church, Jesse, WV with Bro. Russell Justice officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm
Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from Noon until time of services on
Wednesday at the church. Pallbearers will be Timothy Cline, Michael Simpson, Kevin Beaver, Nathan
Abbott, Aaron Bailey and Justin Morgan. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,

Edward A. "Ed" Harless Jr

"Edward “Ed” A. Harless, Jr., 79, of Oceana, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Bower’s Hospice
House following a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 6, 1940, in Gilbert, WV to
Bino and Macie Elkins-Harless. Ed was larger than life with a boisterous personality and an air of confidence that
is rarely ever duplicated. Some of Ed’s proudest accomplishments included being a businessman, barber,
politician, one of the areas greatest boxing coaches, an avid fisherman, and golfer. Ed served his country in the
Army National Guard from 1964-1967. An uncompromising pillar in the community, Ed will be greatly missed by
many. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Harless, daughter Joyel (Scottie) Finley of Milton, WV; son, Parrish
Harless of Las Vegas, Nevada, “adopted” daughter, Maria Finley of Milton, WV; and a sister-in-law and nephew,
Sandra and Dwayne (Colleen) Gilbert. In addition to his parents, Ed’s wife of 47 years, Freda, proceeded him in
death. The family wishes to express their warmest thanks to Jeff Prichard (our rock), Hospice of Southern West
Virginia, Bower’s Hospice House, and Doctors Paul Conley and Andrew Petterson of Plateau Medical Center, for
their tireless efforts during Ed’s final days. Services will be Thursday evening from 5-8pm and Friday at 11am at
the Stafford Family Funeral Home in Lynco, WV. Burial will follow at the Cline Cemetery in Hanover, WV. Mark
Finley, Joyel’s father-in-law, will be officiating. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Jeff Prichard, Ron
Hall, Billy Fox, Timmy Simpson, Sam Stewart, JR Elkins, Larry Hopson, Timmy Gibson, Butch McNeely, Tucker
Lambert, Joe Toler, and Calvin Cline."

Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born on January 27, 1944 in Hanover, WV, a daughter of the late Herman
and Minnie Cline Cook. Freda was a member of the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church where she was the
church pianist and choir director. She was a member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International of
the Alpha Theta Chapter in Wyoming County. Freda worked as a teacher and principal for the Wyoming
County Board of Education. She started her career as a teacher at Oceana Middle School and her career as a
principal at Matheny Grade School. She last worked as principal at Berlin McKinney Elementary School;
while under her leadership in the 2000 school year they received the WV School of Excellence Award, in
2002 they were named a National Blue Ribbon School and in 2003 Freda received the National
Distinguished Principal Award. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by an infant brother
Charles Herman Allen Cook; her maternal grandparents Mack and Mae Cline and her paternal
grandparents Carl and Gustava Cook. Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years Edward A. Harless,
Jr.; a daughter Joyel Finley and her husband Scottie of Milton; a son Parrish Harless of Charleston; a sister
Sandra Gilbert of Scott Depot; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held
