"GARY -- Douglas Wilbur Bailey, 58, of McDowell Nursing and Rehab Center, Gary, formerly of Welch, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Welch Community Hospital after a long illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1949 in Panther, he was the son of the late Melvin Bailey and Pearl Lester Bailey. He was a resident of Welch most of his life, and had resided at McDowell Nursing and Rehab Center for the past four years."Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene Bailey, Marshall Bailey, Troy Bailey, infant brothers, Cletus and Henderson Bailey; one sister, Helen Graham.
"Survivors include four sisters, Marlene Reed and husband Herbert of Wilcoe, Lorene Peak of North Welch, Wayma Bryant and husband William of Roderfield, Betty Bailey of West Salem, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Big Sandy Church of God, Big Sandy, with the Rev. Ron Felts and the Rev. Burb England officiating. Burial will follow at Reed Family Cemetery, Shabby Run near Roderfield.
