"Ernest L. “Jackson” Woody age 77 of Keystone, WV who resided in Columbus, OH for the past 18 years departed this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Columbus. He was born September 15, 1944 in Welch, WV and the son of the late Ernest I. and Emma J. (Smith) Woody. After completing his education, he was employed for a number of years at Tomchin’s Furniture Company in Northfork, WV. He was of the Baptist Faith and had attended several area Churches in Columbus. Jackson as he was known, loved both life and people. His most favorite pastimes were spent watching television; especially soap operas and real pro wrestling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, James and Sammie Woody, one sister, Jeanette Woody and a nephew, Donald “Bo” Foddrell Jr.
Jackson will be greatly missed by his friends, family and siblings: Garnett (Diane) Woody of Roanoke, VA, Henrietta Woody of Columbus, Carolyn (Willie) Wilkins of Keystone and Thomas “Leon” (Grace) Woody of Seatle, WA; his nephews, nieces and cousins, which includes; two special cousins, William (Christine Heilig) Smith of Christiansburg, VA and Vondelere (Harold Sr.) Scott of Keystone. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Mt. Chapel Baptist Church in Keystone with the Pastor Kenneth Brown Sr., officiating and Pastor Shelia Smith eulogist. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV. Jackson’s nephews and nieces will serve as both pallbearers and flower bearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until the time of Service. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, (to leave online condolences: gregory-pagefh.com.) Please be advised both COVID protocol and the wearing of masks will be followed."
