"BUD — Bennie Lee Raye, 59, of Bud, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at his home following a long illness. "Bennie was the son of the late Melvin Raye and Verleen McKinney Raye, who still resides in Bud. "Bennie was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, having grown up on Pinnacle Creek. Bennie joined the Navy in 1969 at the age of 18 and also served in Vietnam. He worked most of his life as a coal miner and a truck driver. Bennie enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles. He also loved spending time with his grandkids. "Bennie married Debbie Byars, of Garwood, in 1974. They had two children, Brian Raye and his wife Yvonne of Pineville, Kenny Raye and his companion Stephanie, of Beckley; daughter, Royce Bowling of Ohio; son, Gregory Mullens of Wyco; ten grandchildren; Courtney, Zachary and Hannah Raye, Zackary Ervin, Logan Sneed, Kenzie Crowell, Kali Harris, Gary and Brittany Dick, and Miranda Irvin; one great grandchild, Michael Dick.
