"Mary Magdalene McAlpine Stewart, widow of Troy Marcum Stewart, Sr., died Tuesday, December 04, 2012 at the age of 90.
"Born February 26, 1922, in Warrior, AL, she was the elder daughter of the late Homer McAlpine and Clara Simons McAlpine.
"She was associated with the Matheny Church of God for over sixty five years. At the time of her death, she was the longest surviving member of the congregation.
"In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Homer Kelly Stewart, Sr.; two sisters, Josephine and Willadene; and four brothers, Paul, Joseph, Chester, and Clarence.
"She is survived by three children: Dr. Troy M. Stewart, Jr. and wife, Kay of Huntington, Cynthia Stewart Kidd and husband, David of Matheny and Rebecca Stewart Cooke of Matheny. She took great pride in the fact that all four of her children were graduates of Oceana High School.
"She is also survived by grandchildren: Troy Marcum Stewart III of Nashville, TN, Sherry Hall Adkins and husband, Darrell of Chester, VA, Nathan Stewart Cooke of Blacksburg, VA, Adam Thomas Cooke and wife, Sammie of Pineville, Homer Kelly Stewart, Jr. of Beaufort, SC, and Kevin Stewart of Yemasee, SC; two sisters, Geraldine Maag of Winfield and Hazel Richmond of Prince George, VA; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Her passing will also be mourned by two special friends, Joseph and Dorothy Paynter of Pineville..."
