"Sandra Sue Laxton, 72, of Jolo, WV, was received into the presence of her Savior at 2:45 a.m. November 9, 2020 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.

"Sue was born January 14, 1948 in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late Pershing and Margaret Coleman Hagerman. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Sue was a lifetime Christian, an avid reader; she was a prayer warrior and a compassionate child of God.

" In addition to her parents Sue was preceded in death by two brothers, Pershing “Jr.” Hagerman and Danny Hobert Hagerman, and two sisters, Mary “Tootie” Chandler and Lois Hagerman.

"Survivors include her husband, Lewis Laxton of the home; children, Sharon Laxton of Jolo, Lewis Laxton Jr. and wife Mary of Jolo, Karen Laxton also of Jolo, April Laxton and partner John Shelton of Cana VA, and Jason Laxton and partner Chris Smoyer of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Johnathan Laxton and wife Tara, and Alexis Laxton all of Jolo, and Jamie Shelton of Cana VA; great grandchildren, Johnathan Laxton Jr. and Kendall Laxton both of Jolo; sisters, Patsy Addair of Bristol, TN, Wanda Cooper of Stuart, VA, Doris Keene of Statesville, NC and Crystal Church and husband Michael of Cosby, TN; brothers, William Hagerman and wife Carol of Oak Hill, WV, Randal Hagerman and wife Jennifer of Jolo and Doug Hagerman and wife Kathleen of Asheboro, NC; and her best friend, Scarlett Griffith.

"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1 o’clock with Reverend Roger Pete Woods and Reverend Danny Bowles officiating at the Jesus Church of Bartley in Bartley, WV.

"Burial will follow in the Goodman Cemetery at Buckeye near Jolo, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

"Friends may visit with the family after 6 p.m. at the Jesus Church of Bartley Thursday evening, November 12, 2020.

"Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, mask are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.

James Willard Shelton Jr

"James Willard Shelton Jr. “Knockem”, 58, of War, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the husband of Emma Muncy Shelton. They shared 31 years together. Born on January 31, 1961 in Welch, he was the son of the late Eula Brooks Shelton and James Willard Shelton Sr. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Shelton. He graduated from Big Creek High School in 1979. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a Car Man. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Berwind 141. He also served in the Army National Guard from1985 to 1998. He was a member of the War City Hall Council and the Hatfield and McCoy Trails Comity. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed riding trails on his gator, gardening, spending time with his three grandchildren, watching football (diehard fan of Dallas Cowboys and WVU), working to better the community, and reading. He will be remembered for his great intelligence, long conversations, never seeing anyone as a stranger, and his work ethic. He is survived by his spouse Emma Jean Muncy Shelton; two children, James Shelton of Warriormine, WV and Ashley Shelton of Bluefield, WV; three grandchildren, Landon SheltonHatfield of Bluefield, WV, and Salem and Evanora Shelton both of Warriormine; and a brother, Ronald Shelton of War. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Independent Church of the Living God in Shop Hollow in War, at 11 AM, with Rev. Benny Mullins and Melvin Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA, where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1144 of Iaeger and Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge 141 of Berwind...."
