"RAYSAL — Jean Day Kennedy, 65 years of age, of Raysal, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 in Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, W.Va., following a long illness. Born Oct. 28, 1946 in Pea Patch, Va., she was the daughter of Lena Scott Day of Atwell, W.Va. and the late Pete Warnie Day. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt."She had worked many jobs through the years to help support her family and made many friends from strangers. She last worked for 15 years as a cashier for The Hillbilly Market. She was a member of The Raysal Freewill Baptist Church, loved to read her Bible and share her love for God with her family and friends.
"In addition to her father, Pete Warnie Day, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Clinton Swanson; and an infant daughter, Sherrie Sue Kennedy; brothers, Clay, Jay and Estil Wayne Day.
"Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Evelyn Estep and husband, Garnie, of Raysal, W.Va., Rita Justice and husband, Clinton, of Tazewell, Va., Missey Perry and husband, Donnie, of Welch, W.Va., Mary Poore and husband, Marcus, of Bradshaw, W.Va.; six brothers, Roy Day and his wife, Gloria, of Yukon, W.Va., Pete Day and his wife, Guyna, of Rock, W.Va., Delmas Day of Atwell, W.Va., Kyle Day of Pea Patch, Va., Dennis Day and his wife, Linda, of Pea Patch, Va., Dewey Day and his wife, Anita, of Jolo, W.Va.; three sisters, Betty Sanders of North Carolina, June Cook and her husband, Lannie, of Lebanon, Va., and Bobbie Jean Keen of Claypool Hill, Va. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Addair and husband, Nick, of Cedar Bluff, Va., Allison and Cassidy Justice, Zachary and Kelsie Muncey, Lindsey and Hayley Poore; several nieces, nephews; and her special little dogs, that she loved so much, Toby and Maggie.
"Funeral services for Jean Day Kennedy will be conducted at the Raysal Freewill Baptist Church, Raysal, W.Va., Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at 12:00 noon with the Reverend Ermine Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Kennedy Family Cemetery, Jolo Mountain, Jolo, W.Va..."
