Wanda was born April 17, 1933 in Bradshaw, WV, a daughter of the late Elza and Georgia Dove Hopkins. She was an educator and retired from the McDowell County Board of Education in 1989. She then moved to North Carolina where she taught for several years before moving to Greenbrier County where she resided until 2000. Wanda then moved back to Avondale where she resided until her failing health required her to move into the McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2016. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clyde Mullins; one brother Toby Hopkins and one sister Darlene Couch. Survivors include one daughter, Joy Stafford and husband Mike of Avondale, WV; two sons, Tommy Mullins and wife Leaguine of Hanover, and Preston Mullins and Courtney of Garland, WV; a very special grandson, whom she helped raise, Jerry Mullins of Illinois; four grandchildren, Angela Stress and husband Eddie of Tennessee, Scott Mullins and wife Mary, and Jason Mullins and wife Amy of Hanover; great grandchildren, Alexis, Devin, and Coltin Mullins, Payton Stress, Broklyn Matney and Regan Stafford; and a great-great grandson, Mason Mullins. At home she filled her days joyfully sewing, crocheting, quilting and crafting, and was well known for her beautiful flower gardens.

He was born on January 28, 1935, to David Blair Gillespie and Eula Howard Gillespie in Richlands, Virginia."Allen joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He then married his wife of 52 yrs., Goldie Marie Gillespie. After Allen served in Korea, he and his family were stationed in Turkey and several other Air Bases in the U.S. With 24 yrs and at the rank of Master Sargent he retired from the USAF. He started his second career in 1981 with The State of Texas TDCJ-ID. Being promoted to Captain, he and his family moved to the Angleton area. After 23 yrs of service with the State he retired for a second time to care for his ailing wife.
"Allen was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hero to many and inspiration to those who needed it. He had a generous and giving heart, and he never turned away anyone in need. His playful and loving spirit always will be remembered.

"Goldie Marie Gillespie, 71, of Angleton, Texas, passed away October 20, 2007, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on May 1, 1936, to Floyd Allen Day and Obra Ethel Day in Cucumber, West Virginia."Goldie's father was a coal miner and she was the oldest girl of 11 children. She was raised in the coal mining camp of Amonate, Virginia. She married her husband of 52 years, Allen G. Gillespie, in Richlands, Virginia, in 1955. Allen was an airman in the U.S. Air Force. Being a military wife allowed Goldie to travel the world. Goldie moved to Texas in 1981 after Allen retired from the Air Force and took a job with the state of Texas. In 1984, Allen's job relocated them to Angleton, TX.
"Goldie was a housewife and a homemaker. Some of her many pleasures in life were painting, cooking and collecting. Spending time with those she loved was the joy of her life and she enjoyed giving herself to others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
"She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Obra Day; sisters, Fern Deloris Day, Lucy "Lou" Mavity, Myrtle Day; brothers, Raymond Day, Robert Vernon Day and Earl Day.
"She is survived by her husband, Allen G. Gillespie; her daughters, Pamela Guajardo and husband, Hisrael, of Rosharon, TX, Kimberly Baldwin and husband, James, of Angleton, TX; granddaughter Susan Purvis and husband, Charles, of Alvin, TX; sisters, Phyllis Cook and husband, John, of San Bernardino, CA, Deline Laxton and husband, Tommy, of Kingsland, GA, Gay Davis and husband, Joe, of Tonopah, AZ; brother, Ronnie Day of Charleston, WV.
