"Lillian Steele, 84 yrs old of Lindside, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her infectious laugh, quick wit and the ability to make friends with anyone she met."She was born in Roderfield, West Virginia on July 11, 1930 to Ellis and Jenny Burks McCoy. She was preceded in death by both her parents, as well as her husband of 62 years, Boyd and an infant daughter, Barbara England. Also, brothers, Fred McCoy, Ellis McCoy, Jr., Charles McCoy, Earl Richard McCoy, Eddie McCoy and sisters, Laura Nutten, Dorothy Hatfield and Maggie Ellen McCoy. Ms. Steele was formerly employed with the Monroe County Council on Aging before retirement.

" Remember when the Peoples Drug Store
was located on main street laeger. it was pur—
chased by Henry Gabriel from his brother Dr.
Dan Gabriel in 1947. Henry had just finished
his career in the the United States Maritimes
as an officer. He arrived in laeger to visit his
brother, Dr. Gabriel, who was the doctor in the
area. After his visit, Henry decided to move to
laeger and help operate the Pineville Bus Line
and the Peoples Drug Store for his brother.
"Eventually Henry purchased the Peoples
Drug Store. Here he soon met Rosa Steele
daughter of Harison and Louise Steele. Henry
and Rosa were married in 1948.
"They lived in laeger and operated the Peo-
ples Drug Store. Two children were born while
living in laeger. In 1949, Robert was born and
the following year a girl was born whom they
named Theresa,
"Henry and Rosa resided in laeger for three
years after which they decided to move to Brook-
lyn, NY where Henry went into the business of
Real Estate. While living in Brooklyn, a girl was
born and they named her Diane. Henry and
Rose decided to move to upstate New York
where they built, owned and operated the Green-
wood Motel in Greenwood, NY. Darrell was born
and after living in Greenwood for several years
they made another move. They moved to
Wellsville, NY where they built the Wellsville
Motel. Eventually another child was born to
Henry and Rosa whom they named Susan.
"After being in business for 20 years in
Wellsville they retired and moved back to Green-
wood. Henry and Rosa are proud grandparents
to nine grandchildren. Rosa still visits laeger
each year keeping in contact with family and
