"RODERFIELD - Raymond L. Lambert, 85, of Roderfield, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at his
residence. "Born May 30, 1920 at Wilmore, a son of the late Estel and Montie Hale Lambert.
"He was the last member of his original family and a lifelong resident of McDowell County. He was
affectionately known as the "Mayor" of his community and was loved and respected by all of his
neighbors. To demonstrate his support of his community, he attended "college" every morning at the
"campus" of the Iaeger Memorial Cemetery office where he shared coffee and current events with
his friends and their take on the happenings of the area. He was self-employed as president of M &
L Mining Company and retired as mines management of Royalty Smokeless Coal Company
following 50 years in coal mining. He was past president of the Welch Post 1 of the National Mine
Rescue association, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and held life membership
in the VFW Post 8413 of Welch. He served his country during WWII as a gunners mate in the US
Navy. He attended the Stewart Street Church of God in Welch and enjoyed Atlanta Braves Baseball. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Oble, Calvin, Johnny, and
Howard Lambert. "Survivors include his wife of 57 years, June Collins Lambert of the home; and numerous nieces
and nephews. "Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sandy Evans and
Pastor Elzie Blankenship officiating at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will
follow in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery at Roderfield...."

"June Lambert, 93, of Roderfield, WV passed away early Saturday morning July 3, 2021 at The McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gary, WV. Born June 6, 1928 in Iaeger, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ozie and Lena Mullins Collins. She was raised by Deedy & Dennie Mullins. June was a lifelong resident of McDowell County who always cared for her community; she was a former member of the Roderfield Methodist Church, as well as membership of the former Stewart Street First Church of God, Welch, WV. Additionally, she also attended Roderfield Christian Church, Roderfield, WV. June was well regarded as “always a Lady”, formerly active in the Republican Executive Committee, seemingly always seen outside of her residence caring for her yard. Following the passing of her devoted husband Raymond Lambert, her beloved pets Rusty & Shadow were her loving companions. She was preceded in passing by her parents and husband, as well as an Infant brother and her late sister, Lillian Bland. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 12 Noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, WV with Pastor Diane Hall officiating; burial will follow at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield, WV. Friends may call Wednesday, July 7, 2021 one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.fanningfuneralhomes.com.
