"Bearre, Michael August 10 (sic, 16), 1874 in Carter (sic, Boyd) County, KY. His father both of his
legs broken in a mine accident when Michael was a very small boy. As early as six years he helped
carry mine picks. Four or five of them were required to a day's work and this required many trips.
"He was employed by Ashland Coal and Iron Railway Company, a mine operation which owned a 21
mile long railroad in Rush, KY.
"April 11, 1898 he married Maggie McBrayer of Rush, KY. She was born February 3, 1877. He
worked briefly at Orchard, KY and Thacker in coal mines. 1902 we went to Twin Branch Coal
Company when Ed Rhodemyer was Superintendent at Myers Coal Company and Flannory Coal
near Marytown and Big Sandy. These were later bought and operated by the Jewitt, Bigelow and
Brooks Company. He worked 47 years as mine foreman.
"The people of Davy knew them as Mom and Pop Bearre. 1904 he started bringing mine families to
Davy from Kentucky by boxcars because there were no roads.
"1915 he was general manager and superintendentof a plant in Ivel. KY on the Big Sandy River. He
held an interest with Jasper Fleenor, Dr, J.H. Anderson and F.B. Lindsey..."
"... 1918 he returned to Twin Branch and worked as a contractor with O.J. Hunter and Dr. Brockman.
They were Methodist and he was a member of the Pythian Lodge of Davy.
"They were parents of Clyde, Theodore, Malcolm, Michael Jr., Nelson, Mrs. Alvan Harless. Edith, Mrs.
Fred Short, Mrs. Lucille Hall and Mrs. Hazel Walker.
" He died in 1925. She died in 1928. Both are buried in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery, Roderfield,
where 16 members of the family were buried...: (These death dates are incorrect. They do not match
death certificates.)

"Everett Samuel Harris, 86, of Bluefield, W.Va. passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Harris was born on January 05, 1923 in Twin Branch, W.Va. to the late Hewitt Samuel Harris and Mattie Lee Johnson Harris. He had been resident of Mercer County for the past 21 years. Everett was a retired coal miner with 39 years of service; he was a member of the UMWA, AARP and Welch Masonic Lodge #112 and Greenview United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Virginia Harris; and his second wife, Martha Cochran Harris; one daughter, Sharon Kae Harris; three brothers, Jack Tate, James Warren and Wilburn Harris; and one sister, Nova Lee Rollins. Survivors include his wife, Sarah (Connie) Dillon Harris of the home; two sons, Jerry Wayne Harris and wife Wynney of Bolivar, Ohio and Dale Gordon Harris and wife Nellie of Burton, Mich.; one sister, Ada Sue Harris Moses of Huntington, W.Va.; three stepsons, Joe Forgona and wife Lisa of Palm Beach, Fla., Tommy Thompson and wife Katrina of Rocky Mount, Va. and Billy Thompson and wife Shirley of Salem, Va.; and one stepdaughter, Barbara Arnold and husband Dale of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Mark, Todd, Brian, Chris and Virginia Chadwell; and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Rev. "Everett Samuel Harris, 86, of Bluefield, W.Va. passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Harris was born on January 05, 1923 in Twin Branch, W.Va. to the late Hewitt Samuel Harris and Mattie Lee Johnson Harris. He had been resident of Mercer County for the past 21 years. Everett was a retired coal miner with 39 years of service; he was a member of the UMWA, AARP and Welch Masonic Lodge #112 and Greenview United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Virginia Harris; and his second wife, Martha Cochran Harris; one daughter, Sharon Kae Harris; three brothers, Jack Tate, James Warren and Wilburn Harris; and one sister, Nova Lee Rollins. Survivors include his wife, Sarah (Connie) Dillon Harris of the home; two sons, Jerry Wayne Harris and wife Wynney of Bolivar, Ohio and Dale Gordon Harris and wife Nellie of Burton, Mich.; one sister, Ada Sue Harris Moses of Huntington, W.Va.; three stepsons, Joe Forgona and wife Lisa of Palm Beach, Fla., Tommy Thompson and wife Katrina of Rocky Mount, Va. and Billy Thompson and wife Shirley of Salem, Va.; and one stepdaughter, Barbara Arnold and husband Dale of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Mark, Todd, Brian, Chris and Virginia Chadwell; and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Rev. Brent Brown and the Rev. David Barnett officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield, W.Va. where the Welch Masonic Lodge #112 will be holding Masonic graveside services along with the West Virginia Honor Guard and Mercer County Veterans Council who will conduct military graveside rites..."
