Birchfield, 53 of Gilbert, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and to join his loved ones waiting for him in Heaven on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011."Born on November 28, 1957, he was the son of the late James "Raymond" Birchfield and Clara Jean Stacy-Birchfield.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Bertha Stacy; his paternal grandparents, Jesse James Birchfield (1907-1982) and Gracie Birchfield (1912-1979); and his two brothers: Gary and William "Billy" Birchfield.
"Joe was a wonderful teacher who was deeply devoted to his students and to Gilbert High School. He taught math for 27 years at Gilbert Junior High and Gilbert High School. He was a devoted fan of all GHS sports and was the assistant coach for the girls' basketball team. Joe was to be a teacher at Mingo Central High School.
"Joe attended the Little Cub Memorial Baptist Church were he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and the church treasurer. He will be greatly missed by his church family and friends.
"Those left to love and cherish the memory of Joe and to mourn his passing include his loving soul-mate of 22 years, Christine "Tina" Cline; his sister-in-law, Tammy Birchfield; his two nieces , Cami Rose and Jaime MacKenzie Birchfield; and a host of family and friends.
"Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, August 20th from 6 pm to 9 pm. A special service will be held at 7 pm with Dr. Jerry Rose and Rev. Jackie Lester officiating.

"Born November 13, 1923 in Roderfield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jesse Draper and Ida Lacy Draper. She was a member of the Roderfield Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years before transferring to the Ark of Safety Church, Roderfield, where she was a faithful member. She was a former sales clerk for G.C. Murphy Co. in Welch, a volunteer at Welch Community Hospital, and a homemaker. When she was in better health, she was a great cook and baker. She loved to grow flowers. She was a loving mother, granny, and great-granny. She had been a resident of Roderfield most of her life and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. "Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Texel Steele; second husband, Theodore "Ted" Bishop; three sisters, Ethel Puckett Mounts, Lucy Green Foster, and Alice Mills; three brothers, Curtis Draper, Bernard Draper, and Kim Draper. "She leaves to cherish her memory: Two daughters, Delores Hughes and husband Stanley of Lexington, S.C., Carolyn Regina Bishop of Stewart Street, Welch, W.Va.; one son, Larry R. "RODERFIELD — Palma Maudine Bishop, age 84, of Roderfield, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 5, 2008) at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. "Born November 13, 1923 in Roderfield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jesse Draper and Ida Lacy Draper. She was a member of the Roderfield Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years before transferring to the Ark of Safety Church, Roderfield, where she was a faithful member. She was a former sales clerk for G.C. Murphy Co. in Welch, a volunteer at Welch Community Hospital, and a homemaker. When she was in better health, she was a great cook and baker. She loved to grow flowers. She was a loving mother, granny, and great-granny. She had been a resident of Roderfield most of her life and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. "Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Texel Steele; second husband, Theodore "Ted" Bishop; three sisters, Ethel Puckett Mounts, Lucy Green Foster, and Alice Mills; three brothers, Curtis Draper, Bernard Draper, and Kim Draper. "She leaves to cherish her memory: Two daughters, Delores Hughes and husband Stanley of Lexington, S.C., Carolyn Regina Bishop of Stewart Street, Welch, W.Va.; one son, Larry R. Bishop Sr. of Roderfield, W.Va.; grandchildren, Joanna Sapp and husband Joel, Mark Hughes and wife Mary, Clifford Hughes and wife Cherry, Josh Hughes and wife April, Marsha Bishop and Larry Bishop Jr., Jessica Norman and husband Joe, Travis Grimsley and wife Megan; great-grandchildren, Timothy Sapp and wife Anna, Bethany Sapp, Casey Hughes, Clayton Hughes, Brendae Hughes, Samatha Hughes, Christopher Hughes, and Amber Hughes; two great-great-grandchildren, Stephen Hughes and Cassidie Hughes; her beloved Pomeranian "Wiggles" whom she called "her baby." "Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 8, 2008) at 1:00 p.m. at the Ark of Safety Church, Roderfield, with the Rev. Gene Ball and her son-in-law, the Rev. Stanley Hughes officiating.
