"Clyde Fred Chaffins, 90, of Iaeger, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in the Golden Harvest Long Term Care Unit at Welch Community Hospital in Welch, WV, following a long illness.
"Clyde was born January 9, 1924, in Wilmore, WV, a son of the late Walter and Lake Perdue Chaffins. He was a former railway section foreman and enjoyed fishing. He was also a United States Navy veteran having served his country during World War II.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Irene Cassady Chaffins; one son, Brian Chaffins; a step grandson, Brandon Church; one sister, Laverene Edwards; and two brothers, Raymond Chaffins and Walter Chaffins, Jr.
"Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Darby of Chicago, IL, and Stephenie Pruett of Bradshaw, WV; one son, Terry Chaffins of Wilmore, WV; one sister, Rebecca Chaffins of Chicago, IL; one brother, Hiram Chaffins of AR; eight grandchildren, Jackie Darby of Rockford, IL, John Steven Cantrell of Pineville, WV, Dewayne Cantrell also of Pineville, WV, David Mochnic of Beckley, WV, Mindy Chaffins of North Carolina, Kristi Blevins of Bradshaw, WV, Matthew Chaffins of South Point, OH, and Ashley Bailey of Princeton, WV; 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 12, 2014, at 12 noon with Reverend Martin West officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV.
