"Lacy Edgar “Ed” Stewart 81, of Matheny went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday July 15, 2017 following a long illness."Born February 10, 1936 in Jesse, he was the son of the late Henry Charles Stewart Sr. and Vernie Mae McMillon Stewart.
"Ed lived most of his life in Matheny. He also made his home in Summers County on the farm. A place he loved and enjoyed living on the mountains. He attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Summers county while living there. He moved back to Matheny in 2010.
"He was a member of the Matheny Methodist Church where he enjoyed going to church, and serving the Lord.
"Ed was a disabled coalminer. He was employed at Kopperston Mine, Harris #1, F&F Mine, and drove a log truck for Church Brothers Lumber Co, Lugars, and Billy Stewart. He enjoyed riding motorcycles especially Harley Davidsons, teasing people about Dodge trucks, cooking, gardening, and most of all spending time with his four precious grandchildren and his family.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Lola Stewart, and infant son James Stewart, two brothers, Henry Charles Stewart Jr. and James Holly Stewart.
"He is survived by two daughters, Deana Holbrook (Jeff) of Green Camp, and Edna Vanhoy (Chad) of Pineville, Three grandson’s Kile Holbrook of Green Camp, Hunter and Lucas Vanhoy of Pineville, and one granddaughter Kelsy Holbrook of Green Camp, one brother Calvin Stewart (Louise) of Matheny, three sisters Garnet Bailey of New Richmond, Versie McCoy (Harlen), Carol Browning (Lindsey), of Jesse, many special nieces, nephews, and a host of many friends, and neighbors. Very special friends Mickey and Tammy Mitchell, and Mike Dempsey.
"The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Hospice of Southern West Virginia, and Wyoming Nursing and rehab, for the wonderful care given Ed during his illness.
"Services celebrating the life of Ed Stewart will be held Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Matheny United Methodist Church with Rev. David White, and Rev. Mickey Mitchell officiating. "MATHENY — Sadie Cline, 91, surrounded by her loving family went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 12, 2014, at Bowers Hospice House. Mrs. Cline was a homemaker, lifelong member of Matheny United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and United Methodist Women. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, loved gardening, crafts, camping and fishing."Born June 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Andy John Stewart (1885-1962) and Lake "Lakie" Maude Barber-Stewart (1886-1949). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Forest Stewart (1912-1984); second husband, Emory Cline (Deceased); a daughter Lola Jane Stewart-Steward (1945-2011); six brothers, John Kile Stewart (1910-Deceased), Joe "Talley" Stewart (1912-Deceased), Perry Glen Stewart (1918-1993), Coy Stewart (1920-Deceased), Alfred Kelly Stewart (1915-Deceased) and Jesse "Crockett" Stewart (1926-1991); a sister, Gracie Stewart-Elswick-Workman (1908-1994); and a grandson, James Edgar Stewart.
