"Herbert "Herb" Smith O'Neal, 71, of Eldorado, Ill., formerly of Mullens, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2005, at his residence following a nine-month battle with lung cancer. "Mr. O'Neal was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Corinne; he was the son of Zola Smith O'Neal and the late Frank O'Neal. "He married Irene Minor O'Neal on Oct. 8, 1983. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of PFC. He was a retired pipe fitter and worked for numerous mine sites across the eastern half of the United States through most of his career. "He was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldorado, Ill., and the Welton Chapel of Allen Junction. "He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and he could often be found in his ?barn? doing many woodworking projects that he gave to his family and friends as gifts. "Other than his father, Frank, Mr. O'Neal was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Douglas "Skip' Ashley of Mullens. "Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 22 years, Irene Minor O?Neal of Eldorado, Ill.; a son, Steven O'Neal of Alpoca; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tim Carrico of Beckley and Priscilla (Ceil) and Chris Aliff of Midway; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Pandy Pate Minor of Eldorado, Ill., and Jon and Sheila Murry Minor of Eldorado, Ill.; four stepdaughters and one son-in-law, Jonene Minor Stafford of Eldorado, Ill., Jolene Minor Weir of Eldorado, Ill., Stephanie Minor Pool of Raleigh, and Jennifer Minor and Scotty Shipp of Norris City, Ill.; his mother, Zola Smith O?Neal of Corinne; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Doris O?Neal of Still Run, Sam and Jean O'Neal of Tracy's Mountain, Dave and Rose O'Neal of Mullens; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Ashley of Mullens, Gracie and Lewis Stone of Mullens and Donna and Dr. Wayne Cayton of Washington, W.Va.; three grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. "WOLF CREEK - Albert Eugene Rudisill, 64, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at the VA Medical Center, Beckley, following a long illness. "Born July 18, 1941, at Coal City, he was the son of the late Robert Raymond and Elsie Faye Mann Rudisill. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Rudisill; a sister, Carris Melchoir, and two grandsons, Phillip Morgan and Christian Tyler Bradley. "Mr. Rudisill was a master electrician and the owner and operator of the former Bert?s Electrical Service at Sinks Grove. He was a former employee of Kathy?s Farm at Frankford, and was also a former funeral home attendant and minister. "Mr. Rudisill attended Union High School and Tennessee Temple at Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict as an expert rifle marksman. He was of the Baptist faith and attended First Missionary Baptist Church, Ballard, and was a former member of Broad Run Baptist Church, Wolf Creek. "Mr. Rudisill was an avid writer and generous contributor to the Sims Missionary Program and Christian Acres Camp in Bluefield. "Survivors include two sons, Timothy Andrew Rudisill and his wife, Merlina, of Gap Mills and Walter Eugene Rudisill and his wife, Christa, of Philadelphia, Pa.; four daughters, Zena Sue Morgan and her husband, Barry, of Ronceverte, Leona Christine Wickline, stationed with the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Reesa Gail Fields and her husband, William, of Chilhowie, Va., and Esther Faye Miller and her husband, Seth, of Hollywood, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert R. Rudisill Jr. and his wife, Eleanor, of Rockville, Md., and Ray K. Rudisill and his wife, Marlene, of Hinton; two sisters, Norma Kowalski of Chesapeake, Va., and Verna Diaz and her husband, Caesar, of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. "HILO, Hawaii — Lonnie G. Stone passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the age of 51.
"He was the son of Wayne and Florence Stone of Pierpoint. "After graduating from Mullens High School in 1975, Lonnie joined the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the Army, he made his home in Hilo, Hawaii. He came back to West Virginia in 2001 for a short period, but Hawaii called his heart. "Lonnie had many hobbies including gardening. He especially liked working with flowers and admired his Uncle James Privett’s Black iris, for which he lovingly transplanted in his parents’ garden. "He is survived by his parents; his brother, Lewis and wife, Gracie, of Mullens; his brother, James and his wife, Ronda, of Itmann; and a sister, Joyce and her husband, Lonnie, of Winston-Salem, N.C. He was the proud father of daughters, Tina of Florida, and Tiffany of Hawaii. He also has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss him.
