Mr. Fain was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former Eagle Scout, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 175. "Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 21 years; four daughters, Samantha Dawn Fain of the home, Virginia Diane Fain Ratliff, Kimberly Lynn Fain Lester both of Paynesville, and Crystal Denise Fain-Yount of Statesville, N.C.; three sons, Joel Micah "Joe" Fain of the home, Michael Edward Fain of Roderfield, and Samuel Kenneth Fain of Brushfork; a sister, Jean "Rose Marie" Coleman of Dobson; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a special friend, Harold Lane of Copeland, N.C. "In addition to his parents, Mr. Fain was preceded in death by two sons, Kirby Dean and Leonard Dwayne Fain; two sisters, Hazel Riggs and Barbara Shoener; two brothers, Roy and Robert Fain and two grandchildren, Jeremy Fain and Mark Stone. "A funeral service was held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 at Dobson Church of God with the Rev. Randy Parrish and the Rev. Homer Lowdermilk officiating. The family received friends at the church from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. His body was then taken to Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger where a funeral service will be held on Thursday (today) at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Don Morgan officiating. Ms. Fain attended Berea College, University of Louisville and later completed her education in 1964 at Kentucky Wesleyan College, earning a B.A. in Elementary Education. Ms. Fain was an artist, certified nursing assistant, elementary school teacher and devout Christian, and for years was an active volunteer in the prison ministry in central Florida."She was born Norma Jean Fain, in Premier, McDowell County, WV to the late Howard Bennett Fain (1903-1991) and Minnie Elizabeth Hull-Fain-Patterson (1906-1991). In addition to her parents, Ms. Fain was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Mae Fain-Riggs (1925-Deceased) and Barbara June Fain-Shoener (Deceased); three brothers, Robert Franklin Fain (1923-1994), Roy Fain (Deceased), and Samuel Edward Fain (1933-2006); and one great-grandchild, Madison Rose Degre (Deceased).
